ACTIVITY 3 WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
PART – I
Introduction
World environment day is celebrated on June 5 every year
and this day is commemorated to raise awareness about
environmental issues, the increasingly deteriorating conditions,
climate change etc. This day acts as a reminder to people to be
more considerate and aware of the Earth’s existing conditions, in
terms of the environment.On World Environment Day, people
take action to spread awareness about the environment and also
motivate others to do the same, in hopes of creating a better
future.
History of World environment day
The concept of celebrating World Environment Day was first
conceptualised in 1972’s United Nations Conference on Hu man
Environment that was held at Stockholm. This became the first
big conference where matters of the environment were given huge
importance. The United Nations Environment Programme was
also created at this conference. In 1972 the United National
General Assembly established the world environment day on the
first day of Stockholm conference. Two years later in 1974 the
first world environment day was held with the theme of “Only
one Earth.”
Theme for world environment day 2022
Every year, a theme is picked out for World Environment Day
that encourages people to participate in the celebration and also
motivates them to follow the theme. This year’s theme is, ‘Only
one Earth’ that is living sustainably in harmony with nature.
Host of World Environment Day
Every year, different countries host World Environment Day.
This year, Sweden is the host. This year’s theme will focus on
getting the world together in harmony to advocate the idea of
sustainable living.
Objectives of World Environment Day
To eradicate the harmful deeds to environment by engaging
the youth.
To make aware of the public to come forward in preserving
the environment.
To engage youth to take part actually in celebrating the day
by knowing the importance of the day.
To fulfil the government concern by taking the necessary
steps to solve the future risk of environment and its
consequences.
Message
Earth's natural systems cannot keep up with our demands. This
not only hurts the Earth, but us too. A healthy environment is
essential for all people and all 17 sustainable development goals. It
provides food, clean water, medicines, climate regulation and
protection from extreme weather events.
Conclusion
The state of our environment is falling day by day due to
pollution and global warming. We must celebrate environment-
friendly development to save the environment for a better future in
our country. We can save our environment by Pollution control laws
should be imposed strictly. Restriction on the use of fossil fuels
should be imposed. In its place, the usage of non-conventional
sources of energy should be encouraged.
PART : II WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION
Introduction
World Environmental day was celebrated by Grace College of
Education at 10 a.m on 6th June 2022 in the college auditorium.
The program started with the prayer song by our pre service
teachers, the principal, students and faculty members were
participated with full energy in this program. Miss Sreeja V,
Department of biological science, welcomed the gatherings. Dr
Helen Prema latha, Assistant professor of Biological Science
acted as the president of the occasion in the presence of Dr
Kamala Selvaraj. Mrs Vijila Rani, Assistant professor, Grace
College of Education acted as the chief guest. The objective of
this program is to spread awareness among people about saving
our environment for various types of pollution and plan more
and more trees to make our mother Earth full of greenery. The
inaugural session ends with vote of thanks by Dona Abraham,
pre service teacher Department of Biological science. Students
performed many awareness programs to make our environment
greenery.
Pledge for the World Environment Day Celebration
On the occasion of World Environment Day we have conducted
the mass pledge in the college premises. The pledge is
To take at least one small step to protect our environment.
Follow simple practices like no to single use plastic, conserve
water, plant trees, choose public transport etc
I pledge to take individual action to help protect the
environment.
I pledge to remind my friends family and others about the
importance of greening their daily actions in order protect the
nature essential for future generations.
Environmental Expo
An Environmental exhibition was organised by the pre service
teachers of Department of Biological science on the Environment
Day celebration. There were different stalls featured with various
aspects of environmental pollution such as charts, models, slides,
medicinal plants, information about pollution and protection of pet
animals. The exhibition inaugurated by our principal Dr Kamala
Selvaraj. The exhibition opened the eyes of the visitors of all other
department students and faculties to the terrible crimes committing
against our planet in the name of progress. It also conventional
brought out the fact that mankind is slowly but surely moving towards
its own doom and destruction.
Conclusion
The state of our environment is falling day by day due to pollution
and global warming. So we must celebrate environment friendly
development to save the environment for the better future in our

ACTIVITY 4 CAMPUS CLEANING PROGRAMME
PART : I
Introduction
Hygiene is the practice of keeping our self and our surroundings
clean, especially in order to prevent illness or the spread of diseases.
Cleaning is important for the health and safety. If the hallways and
rooms within a college is cluttered with rubbish, cables, boxes and
other obstacles, it increases the likelihood of accidents and mishaps. If
a serious injury occurs as a result of a disorganised work
environment, it can potentially lead to more severe problems,
including lawsuits and a loss of productivity and faith in the college.
Maintaining a clean college environment sets a good example to
students. It encourages learners to take pride in their university or
college, which makes them less likely to drop litter and as such they
will potentially make a bigger effort to maintain their environment.
Objectives of campus cleaning
Keep the school environment healthy.
Students know the importance of cleanliness.
Chances of spreading diseases will be less.
Due to cleanliness in the college premises the environment will
be pollution free.
To preserve biosphere protect endangered species.
To preserve the earth natural resources.
Importance of Campus Cleaning
A healthy and clean environment will surely bring about a
workforce with enhanced well-being. This will surely
decrease the average number of leaves per worker in
business thereby enhancing productivity.
A tidy and tidy office is a wonderful tool for promotion
whether in relation to customers, selling the building, or
rental area.
Clean and neat offices are less vulnerable to employee
injuries and injuries because of falls and slides. A cleaner
office is safe for workers and so meets the global security
standards.
A fresh and healthy environment reduces stress and offers a
positive outlook about the working atmosphere.
A routine cleaning procedure may enhance the life span of
resources of a business i.e the rugs, tiles, equipment,
flooring, and furniture, etc
A pleasant and tidy workplace is a wonderful instrument to
achieve value as people will feel better and nice to remain
there. Therefore, workers are invited to difficult labor and
indulge in staff efforts jointly.
SWATCH BHARAT ABHIYAN
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is one of the most significant and popular
missions taken place in India. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan translates to
Clean India Mission. This drive was formulated to cover all the cities
and towns of India to make them clean. This campaign was
administered by the Indian government and was introduced by the
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. It was launched on 2nd October in
order to honor Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of Clean India. The
cleanliness campaign of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was run on a national
level and encompassed all the towns, rural and urban. It served as a
great initiative in making people aware of the importance of cleanliness
Conclusion
Cleanliness is a good habit that everyone should have for a
healthy life and a standard lifestyle. Our Prime Minister Narendra
Modi has started a cleanliness campaign called “Swachh Bharat” or
”Swachh Bharat Abhiyan “. We should understand that cleanliness is
not only the responsibility of our Prime Minister, but it is the
responsibility of every person living on this earth.Cleanliness ensures
a healthy mind and physique. A person with clean habits can destroy
his/her destructive desires and dirty ideas with ease. Cleanliness is not
the responsibility of only one person however; it is the responsibility
of each and every person living in the home, city and country.
PART II CAMPUS CLEANING PROGRAM
Introduction
Grace College of Education organised clean campus program and
8th June 2022 at 1:30 p.m. to educate and to promote civic sense
among students community. Department of Biological Science
students gave the importance of cleanliness of the campus. Dr.
Kamala Selvaraj, Principal inaugurated the program. The aim behind
this program was to give awareness to people about keeping the
environment clean and safe from pollution. So we should motivate
others to keep their environment clean free of pollution so that we can
live a healthy life.
Campus cleaning
Promote hygiene it improves hygiene level in campus and also helps
to reduce the spread of sickness maintaining a clean college
environment sets a good example to students. Cleanliness encourages
learners to take pride in their college which makes them less likely to
drop litter and as such they will potentially make a bigger effort to
maintain their environment
Students were advised not to throw paper plates, water bottles,
paper cups, tissues and many unwanted things on the campus lawns
classroom pathway and other open areas which is very unhygienic to
all of us. They were also informed to make the college campus and
classroom a beautiful place for one and it makes individual healthier
when the environment around them is healthy.
Cleanliness gives rise to a good character by keeping body mind
and soul clean and peaceful. Maintaining cleanliness is the essential
part of healthy living because it is the cleanliness help to improve our
personality by keeping clean externally and internally.
Conclusion
Campus cleaning promotes leadership maintaining a clean college
environment sets a good example to students to encourage them to
potentially make a bigger effort to maintain their environment
cleanliness is next to godliness cleanliness means maintaining
neatness both physically and mentally. So keeping campus clean also
remains a part of ones daily duty. Extending one's help through these
small ways such as avoiding, throwing, rubbing everywhere using
less plastic materials etc can lead to clean college campus.
ACTIVITY 5 TREE PLANTATION PROGRAMME
PART I
Introduction
Tree planting is recognised as one of the most engaging,
environmentally-friendly activities that people can participate in
to help the planet when done properly. Trees provide numerous
long-term and short-term benefits. They not only look nice, but
they also remove and store carbon from the atmosphere, slow
heavy rain and thus reduce the risk of flooding, improve air
quality, and reduce the urban heat island effect by reflecting
sunlight and providing shade. .Tree plantation is one of the
effective remedial measures to control the air pollution and
noise pollution. It also causes aesthetics improvement of the
area as well as sustains and supports the biosphere.

Conclusion
Trees should be regularly planted to save the mankind and the
animal world. Tree plantation and its after-care is a pleasing work too.
We can get much pleasure in planting trees and in taking care of
them. Students should plant trees in their school-compounds and in
the front-yards, backyards and side-yards of their schools and near
their own houses and in other places wherever possible. They should
explain to their neighbours the goodness of tree-plantation and
encourage them to plant and care new trees. We should consider the
fact that we all need trees and trees are important to us humans. Save
them and they will save us in return. Plant more trees and as you plant
trees you are planting life too because of the fact that they are giving
us fresh air, woods that we people used to build our houses. They
stands as our shelter most specially to the animals, a shield to heat.
We should protect them because they are helping us. Sometimes we
are being rude to them, we cut them without replacements and we are
the reason why they are being fewer. Have mercy on them because
they are one of the reason why we still have fresh air now.
PART:II TREE PLANTATION PROGRAM
Introduction
Grace College of Education organised a tree plantation program
on 8th June to commemorate the World Environment Day. The
objective of this event was to teach students how we can save our
climate from pollution. This was a great initiative to make our
atmosphere neat and clean. By tree plantation program we can
develop a climax ecosystem free of greenhouse gases to reduce global
warming.
Tree plantation
The tree plantation program started at 1:30 p.m. Our correspondent
Mrs. Geetha Barns inaugurated the event by planting the first sapling
in the corner of the college campus with their hand under the
leadership of Dr Kamala Selvaraj, Principal Grace College of
Education. Plant's were provided by the students of Department of
Biological Science . Then it was watered by the gardeners of the
college. Teachers also participated the tree plantation program and
make a boundary to resist environmental pollution. The main purpose
of this event was to enhance awareness about the importance of tree
plantations.
Conclusion
Our principal thanked correspondent as well as teachers and
students for coming and participating in that fruitful activity giving
their precious time. Trees should be regularly planted to save the
mankind and animal world. We can get to much pleasure in planting
trees and in taking care of them. students should plant trees in their
college premises, their home and in other places where ever possible.
Trees are natural air filters taking in carbon dioxide and releasing
oxygen. We can contribute to a healthy natural environment by
planting trees. The program end with National Anthem at 4:00 p.m.
All the students and faculties are refreshed by providing juice and
biscuits. I conclude my words with a slogan "Plant more trees, make
the environment pollution free.”
