2 EXAM TASK Read the following text. Three sentences have been removed from the text. Choose from the
sentences (A-E) the one which fits each gap (1-3) to obtain a logical and coherent text. There are two extra
sentences that you do not need to use.

‘It’s going to be a long day’, Tom thought, as he looked at the clock on the classroom wall. It was the day of the general
election and he’d volunteered to be one of the election judges. For that day the school became a polling station. (1)___
The voting would start at 7 am and continue till 9 pm. (2)___ They’d had some administrative work to do. They had had
to lay out the lists of voters according to their home addresses, and the ballot papers.
