1. Prior to commencement of work inspect areas and access to confirm that the site is ready to
commence the work and MEP coordination shop drawings are available and approved.
8. (at Section 6.3.1 — installation, add new clauses as below}
2. All accessories including bends, intersections, tees, risers and reducing sections shall be ready
made by the manufacturer.
3. Cable Trays, and Cable Trunking. Abbreviations (types, color, sizes and letter fonts to approved
by Client and Engineer) to be provided at bottom (or top if required), both ends, both sides of
penetrations, bends, 15 meters of straight runs, identifications can be printed (spray printed) or
sticker type. UPS, Emergency, Control, Normal are to be identified
4, Earthing connector for trays or ladders shalll be provided on each coupling between adjacent
sections. According to Section 260526 of Grounding & Bonding,
5, Calculations taking into consideration the maximum cables load on cable trays with a factor of
safety 300%.
6. 11KV cable ladder shall not be run below mechanical services. Where services/utilities crossed
above 11kv cables ladder, dripping tray shall be provided for those services. And where services
run parallel along 11kv cable ladder, 300mm clearance distance shall be achieved.
7. Cable tray/ladder/trunking Support intervals should be 800mm or as per submitted manufacturer
calculations reviewed and approved by the consultant.

8, Trunking Passing through walls and ceilings shall have the cover fixed solidly for 25mm either
side of walls and for 150mm either side of floors and ceilings.
9. Earthing: Do not use metal trunking as earth continuity conductor. Provide protective conductor
in accordance with Division 26 Section 260526 of Grounding & Bonding,
10. Supplementary Equipotential Bonding: Connect all extraneous conductive parts of the building
such as metallic water pipes, drain pipes, other service pipes and ducting, metallic conduit and
raceways, cable trays and cable armor to nearest earthing terminals by equipotential bonding,
conductors.

‘The Purpose of this method statement is to describe the methodology for Installation

To ensure that all the concemed persons are familiarized with the sequence of
activities, utiizations of resources, documents & drawings involved, maintaining &
recording documents, data to meet the project specification and contractual
obligations.
Scope of work
This method statement covers the installation of Gl Cable Tray, Ladder, Trunking and
Accessories for Electrical & ELV Services in MV Rooms, LV Rooms, Electrical /ELV
Rooms, False ceiling / non false ceiling areas, Parking areas, All Mechanical plant
rooms (Extemal & Intemal areas including roof) in accordance with Project
specification and Contract Documents.
Required permits
Appropriate work Permit and Vehicle entry permits will be obtained from concemed
authorities before commencing work on site. All intemal work permits will be obtained
from HSE department.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Responsible for completing all MEP activities for the project on time, safely, within the
approved budget and in accordance with the contract specifications.

+ Record and reports hazards, accidents injury and health issues with in work places.

= Conduct training sessions with supervisors and workers on Health and safety practices
and legislations.

WORK PROCEDURE
GENERAL a
a) This method statement shall be read in conjunction with the documents listed in
Section 4.3, where applicable.
b) On receipt of the material at site, Site Engineer/Quality engineer shall inspect the
material in accordance with approved material Submission, project specification
and Delivery Note and recorded in the MIR form and offered for consultant
approval as required.
©) Any non-conforming materials must be labelled by storekeeper and retumed to
quarantine area in accordance with procedure.
d) Once completing the material inspection with consultant, materials shall be
stored accordingly for easy retrieval.
e) Manufacturers instructions for storage shall be followed as applicable.
f) Gl Cable trays shall be protected from dust and debris by a tarpaulin sheet,

PRE-INSTALLATION CHECK
a) Ensure that the approved shop drawing is available at site for installation.
b) Ensure that all the materials are inspected upon the delivery to the site by Project

c) Check whether the area is clear / civil clearance is available for installation.
d) Ensure the proper handling equipment's / Tools are available at site to proceed
for installation.
) Check the PPE, accessibility to the site or extra safety required and inform the
safety in charge for further procedures.

6.3.2 INSTALLATION OF TRUNKING AND ACCESSORIES cl« 5.\ BAC
a) Secure trunking of all sizes at intervals not exceeding 1200 mm. Joints shall not

b) Trunking shall have outwardly tumed flanges) to receive cover, and intemal
sleeve coupling between sections, permitting cutting of trunking on site.
©) Trunking parts shall be mechanically and electrically coupled without causing
abrasion to wiring
d) Mark the location for the supports and
drill 2 nos of hole of adequate depth
using drilling machine in the slab. Fix the
fix bolt in the drilled hole and fix the
threaded rod which has been cut to
appropriate length (using Chop saw or
hand grinder) as per the approved
drawing, to the fix bolt. Secure the slotted
channel horizontally with the threaded
rod using nut and bolt. Adequate no of
supports to be installed in order to avoid
sagging of the trunking. Then the
trunking has to be lifted manually and kept upon the supports in such a way that
it rests on the support

6.3.3 INSTALLATION OF FLOOR TRUNKING AND ACCESSORIES ClaSe. 2.9.
a) After civil clearance to proceed with MEP installations, ensure that the area is
clean and ready to start GI Floor Trunking installation works
b) Mark the GI Trunking route as per approved coordinated shop drawings.
c) Mark the location on the floors for the supports and drill 2 nos of hole of
adequate depth using drilling machine in the slab. Fix the fix bolt in the drilled
