Student's Plant Growth Diary

Maria planted okra seeds that did not sprout for 6 days. On the 7th day of replanting squash and snap beans, the seeds sprouted. Over the next few weeks, the plants grew larger each day as Maria continued caring for them. Two months later, the snap beans had fruits while the pumpkin was still developing. Maria's mini garden continued producing new pumpkin fruits and leaves, though some fruits died before fully growing.

PLANT DOCUMENTATION

November 4, 2020 (Wednesday) - This was my first attempt of planting Okra. I chose to take
soil from parts that have a lot of plants because it is one of the good signs that the soil is fertile
and abundant. This also helps my seeds to grow faster and healthy.

November 5, 2020 (Thursday) – I woke up early to visit my plant and water it and this is what
he looks like on the 2nd day.
November 6, 2020 (Friday) – Hi, this is my 3rd day doing the same task of visiting my plant and
watering it. The picture shows that there are no signs that the seedlings I planted are growing

November 7, 2020 (Saturday) – This is the 4th day since I started planted the seeds and I’m so
excited to see if there’s a result. However, it’s still the same. There is no sign that the seeds are
growing.
November 8, 2020 (Sunday) –Day 5 of taking care my plants and yet there’s no changes. I
started to worry because I may not be able to pass this for documentation. So, I started
observing him from today until tomorrow. If there are still no changes, I will start planting again
to compare the two to find out what is the caused why my first plant was not successful.

November 9, 2020 (Monday) – 6th day and as I expected there’s no changes at all so I’m
planning to plant something again. And then compare them
November 10, 2020 (Tuesday) - Due to typhoon and bad weather I postponed my planting plan
on November 14, 2020 to ensure that my crops will not be destroyed

November 14, 2020 (Saturday) - I woke up early so I could plant my new seeds right away.
This time I choose the same soil I use on my first attempt. First, I plant the seeds of squash in a
container and next the snap beans. And then I put them suddenly under the sun in order to get
some nutrients coming from it. I also watered them both.
November 15, 2020 (Sunday) – 2nd day of my plants and it looks good, I already watered them
and expose for a moment in the sun.

November 16, 2020 (Monday) – 3rd day and doing the same routine. However, there are still no
changes or sign that the seeds are growing.
November 17, 2020 (Tuesday) –Day 4, still the same, no changes at all but I keep the same
routine like watering them and placing them under the sunlight for just a moment.

November 18, 2020 (Wednesday) – Day 5, I woke up early to visit my plant and this is what I
saw. The seeds I planted gradually grew. And I was so happy because my 2nd attempt turned
out to be successful and it was worth it to take care of them for a few days.
November 19, 2020 (Thursday) – Day 6, And this we can clearly see that the seeds have
already sprouted.

November 20, 2020 (Friday) – Day 7, it’s been a week since I started to plant this and look
them they grow faster.

November 21, 2020 (Saturday) – Day 8, I’m planning to water my plant and yet I was surprised
by what I saw. They grow faster so I thought the next day I would immediately move them to
another container so that their roots could breathe more
November 22, 2020 (Sunday) – Day 9, I woke up early to move them to the other container
because I was avoiding being caught in the intense sunlight due to they might die or wither.
After that I water them and notice they even grow faster.

November 23, 2020 (Monday) – Day 10, the seeds I planted was successful. My plant is still
alive after I moved it to another container. I can say that their growth has been good and healthy
November 24, 2020 (Tuesday) – Day 11, my plants are growing bigger and bigger each day.

November25, 2020 (Wednesday) – Day 12, they are still the same since I saw them yesterday
yet I still don’t forget to water them everyday
November 26, 2020 (Thursday) – Day 13, after watering the plants. I noticed something. As
you can see the snap beans were starting to bend. I think it would start to find some things
which they can start to climb or trail. While the squash are still the same. No changes at the
moment.

2 months and 8 days past since I plant these seeds, and now this is them now. They’re
much healthy than I expect, besides watering them every day they have their specific structures
that help them survive and grow. They have different characteristics in every stages of
development.
If you can see the picture above, Snap beans has its fruit while the pumpkin does not.
Why? Because according to my research snap beans can produce on about 50 to 55 days while
the pumpkin is 90 to 120 days.
At first, I thought they would not survive because when I removed them from the pot and
moved them to the ground they seemed to wither. when I saw them like that, I always talked to
them every morning while watering. So, look at them now they are healthier than I thought. I
can’t wait to produce my plant more so I can use them to my dish.

February 8, 2020
I water my plant every 4pm in the afternoon, and as far as I observe plant, I can
say that my plant is health. As you can see there are flowers growing, and sometimes
daddy harvests it to put in our dish.

Picture on the left side is taken on February 13, 2020. As you can see my
pumpkin is already bearing its fruit. While on the other side it was taken on February 16,
2020. It’s unfortunate because its fruit did not continue to grow but it died and was cut off
from its grip.
February 24, 2020
My plant is constantly crawling and growing, and the other part of my plant is
crawling on the will near it. As I was watering them, I saw these fruits with a beautiful
look. I’m happy because, even though the first fruit of it was not able to grow a little
longer, but it was being replaced by more fruit.

February 26, 2020

2 days later, my pumpkin has a new fruit. hopefully these fruits will continue to
grow until it is harvested.

MY MINI GARDEN DOCUMENTATION

February 28, 2021

Last february 26 the two new fruit I mention, one is still growing and has a flower on top
but the other one has withered. Morever, my plant is continuing to coil and it has again a new fruit
with its beautiful flower.

March 1, 2021
On the first picture, the flower on the fruit became dried and on the second picture the fruit
became yellowish and I think it is no longer to grow, and again and again there’s a new fruit to
grow but it’s also yellowish.
March 4, 2021
Sad to say but the others fruit does not continue to grow and it became dried. I don’t know
why, because I always talk to it as I water it. On the last picture, there’s another hope because
there’s another fruit again with its flower.

March 6, 2021
The shine is so bright, and I’m so thankful that my plant is getting healthier because there
is no dead/dried fruit, Instead a new fruit again with its beautiful yellow flower.
March 9, 2021
Here we go again, another died/dried fruit. But it also has a new one, and my plants are
continuing to sprout and grow.

March 11, 2021

After past few days of getting my fruits died, there is always something new to grow. Three
little pumpkin and I hope it will last until I can harvest it.
March 16, 2021
Dried fruit again. I don’t know why my pumpkin fruit always end up like that, but when
some of fruit became dried and died there is always a new pumpkin fruit has sprout. Base on the
second picture, I have a healthy and green pumpkin leaf because I don’t let it thirst for water.

March 26, 2021

My plant is sprouting, and it crawled up on the branch of the tree.
March 29, 2021
The sun is shining brightly and it energize my plant and it give also nutrients in my plant.
As you can see, there are continue to sprout and also has a new fruit with its beautiful yellow
flower on top even though the one that in the branch is died.

April 1, 2021
There is always a new fruit sprouting in my plant but it always takes no longer to grow, as
you can see on the last picture some of the leaves are withered but on the third picture are green
and healthy.
April 4, 2021
Some of the parts of my plant became withered, and I think it is because of the weather.
But even though it became like that It always produce a little pumpkin that I hope will grow longer.

April 7, 2021
Other leaves are becoming withered, even though I always watered them. The first picture
is the fruit that I capture last April 4, the flower on the top of it has dried and I hope it will go bigger
this time because since day one I started to plant this I haven’t harvest any fruit yet. Only the
leaves and the branches that sometime we put in our vegetable dish.
April 11, 2021
The fruit that I was captured on last day has dried again, today I saw two new sprouted
fruit again and some of withered leaves are gradually replaced by a new leaf.

April 15, 2021

Two new sprouted fruit again, and as you can see on the second photo the withered leaves
is gradually replaced by a new one. My plant is also continuing to coil everywhere and it also grow
rapidly.
April 18, 2021
As always, the fruit become dried. But some of the leaves in my mini garden is healthy.

April 22, 2021

Although, several leaves became withered it’s still bearing fruit and continue to grow. It
also crawled into the net of our poultry, and as shown on the last picture my father picked a “talbos
ng kalabasa” to add in our dish.
April 25, 2021
New sprouted fruit, it looks so beautiful because of its flower on top. Some withered leaves
are replaced by a new green one. Sunlight gives vitamins to my plant, so even if some of the
leaves became wither and fruit does not always continue to grow its always replaced a new one.

April 29, 2021

There are few left of withered leaves, most of the leaves are green and healthy. It has a
new sprouted fruit again, with its beautiful yellow flower.
May 03, 2021
Every 4 o’clock in the afternoon, I always go to backyard to see the improvement of my
plant and water them. I see new sprouted fruit again, and my plant in the poultry net continuing to
crawled.

May 07, 2021

I always watered them every afternoon, so even if the weather is so hot my plant still get
its what it needs so there just a few withered leaves on my plant.
May 08 – 12, 2021
When I visit my plant, there is no new improvement in there. It’s the same as what I saw
on May 07. But I just notice a withered leaf it became more rather than before.

May 15, 2021

Finally, there’s a new sprouted plant in the poultry net. Some of the withered leaf, are
replaced by a new green leaf. I think its because I decided to water it every morning I wake up
and in the afternoon after my class.

Benefits
Having my mini garden made me realize that caring a plant is fun, by watering them every
afternoon, by taking pictures of them to see they’re improvement. My mini garden is one of the
sources of bonding with my mom, with this garden I get to value the plants more and I understand
why my mother love to care plant. Every time I see new sprouted fruit and a yellow flower on it, I
feel happy because it so beautiful to see. Not only me who benefit in my plant, but also my family
because if they want to add an “talbos ng kalabas” in our vegetable dish they were not able to
buy in market they just go on our backyard and picked some.
