Oh goodness, we’re finally here! -It’s the Choral Speaking Competition!
(What do we talk about? There’s so much to choose from!) -#PA
(Maybe new trends? That can never go wrong!) -#PB
(Ooh what about the newest gossip? I heard that there’s new tea going around) -#PC
(Not that! We need something we can all relate to..) -#PD
[All Gasp]
Of course! The earth, the place we all share together!
Greetings we bid to the
(honourable judges,) GrA
(loyal timekeepers, ) GrB
beloved teachers and all our fellow friends.
Today ladies and gentlemen, we will, for the first time, present to you all
our choral speaking take on the theme “The Environment”
Without further ado, let the show go on!
[All take a deep sigh]
(Ah, the breath of fresh air. I don’t think we’ll ever get tired of it) -#PA
(Isn’t it nice to take a step outside once in a while and take a breather?) -#PB
(Or to smell the flowers when you walk past by them?) -#PC
(Oh! Oh! And the smell of rain, I’m sure everyone loves the smell of it!) -#PD
And it’s not only that we love about mother nature,
but also the natural wonders of it!
The roses, tulips and poppies
Are but a few examples of beautiful flowers
Picked from millions of others
We can’t forget about the animals,
[Person A gasps]
(Gosh of course not) -#PA
Not when they’re the centre piece of mother nature
Animals like tigers, flamingos and starfishes
Are sure to stand out like sore thumbs in nature
With their beautiful patterned coats
Oh how lovely it is,
To step outside and see the many marvels of mother nature
To see the horizon painted with the colour yellow when the sun starts to rise
Or to see the colour brown on the rough surfaces of wood
The colour pink blossoming on plum trees
It really makes you think
(“Wow, how lucky I am to witness such a sight!”) -#PA
The colours that paint our world
Seem to blend perfectly with each other
(Like green for example, isn’t it such a beautiful colour?) -#PB
Especially on mother nature
How boring would places like forests and jungles be
If not for the colour that plants have
From everything large like trees and fields of grass
To the little things like the leaves of flowers and plants
But blue is also quite of a nice colour isn’t it?
The colour of which we all know and love
Blue is almost quite literally everywhere we look
The sky a beautiful baby blue and the sea a calming dark blue
It flows in the streams of rivers
As well as floats high above the sky
All the beautiful plants, all the incredible wildlife, all the natural wonders
All the colours that paint our world
Are what makes earth, well earth!
After all, what other planet is as special as ours?
But alas all good things come to an end...
[Everyone pauses only Person A and Person B can move]
[Person A pretends to coughs, and continues to coughing until Person B shows up]
(Hey are you alright? You seem to be coughing an awful lot) -#PB
(I’m fine) -#PA
[Person A coughs again and clears their throat]
(It’s just, the smoke makes my lungs burn) -#PA
(The smoke?) -#PB
[Person B smells the air and covers their nose and mouth with their hands]
(You’re right! Where is this smoke coming from?) -#PB
[Everyone continues]
From factories far away
Comes the smoke
From the burning of fossil fuels
What a horrible smell!
Yuck!
Even worse, it’s killing all the plants and animals!
(Where are all the plants? Where are all the animals?) -#PC
What a tragic sight to behold
As the flowers and animal slowly start to rot
We humans are sitting comfortably in the safety of our own home.
(Gosh it’s become so dull) -#PD
(Is it just me or is it getting hotter in here?) -#PE
It’s not just you
The earth, in fact, is getting warmer
The icebergs are melting
The forests are burning
It’s become so terrible that
It's estimated that, by 2027
Climate change will become irreversible
And if we don’t take action now
Then we’re sure earth’s heading to a disaster
One which will never be able to come back from
(Gosh, that’s horrifying! I won’t even be able to experience life as an adult by then!) -#PA
(So what can we do! Tell us quickly!) -#PB
Well, alone we can’t do much.
However when together, then I’m sure we’ll be able to save earth
(We might not be superheroes) -#PC
(Or supernatural humans) -#PD
(Or geniuses) -#PE
But when we put aside our flaws,
To protect the one thing we all have in common,
the planet we’re on
earth.
Then we’ll be able to save the future generations
From the things that past generations failed to protect us from
Climate change
(So erase your unwanted emails) -#PC
(Try walking more and driving less) -#PD
(Unplug your unused charges) -#PE
(Buy second hands clothes instead of buying fast fashion) -#PF
(And most important of them all) -#PG
Do your part in helping the earth!
After all, we think it’s time to give back to mother nature
After all it has provided and given to us
It would be foolish to not give back
Or at the very least, take care of earth.
