That’s great. Anyway, I have here a

special visitor. Do you want to meet him? Yes Teacher.

I want you to meet my pet Mickey. He’s a

very sweet and smart pet of mine. Say hi Hi Mickey!
to him.

Mickey is here to tell us something. Let’s

ask him. Everybody say “What is that What is that Mickey?
Mickey?”

Mickey said that he wanted to share a

story to us but before that let us see what
is in the pictures that he’s holding. What
can you see in the picture?

A milk and a cookie.

Very good! Mickey has a milk and a

cookie. Today we are going to read a story
about Mickey. Are you excited? Yes Teacher.

Well before that, please read these

questions:

1 . Why he would look for a mirror after 1 . Why he would look for a mirror after
drinking? drinking?
2 . Why Mickey would ask for a pair of nail 2 . Why Mickey would ask for a pair of nail

3. Presentation
Before we read the story, please sit up
straight. When you’re reading read aloud
and clear. Pause if the is a comma and
stop if there’s a period. Is it clear? Yes Teacher.

Everybody please read this.

If you give a mouse a cookie, he’s
going to ask for a glass of milk. When you
give him the milk, he’ll probably ask you
for a straw. When he’s finished, he’ll ask
you for napkin. Then he will want to look in
the mirror to make sure he doesn’t have a
milk mustache.

Why he would like to look in the mirror To make sure he doesn’t have a milk
after drinking milk? mustache

Very good! Continue reading now.

When he looks in the mirror, he might

notice his hair needs a trim. So he will
probably ask for a pair of nail scissors.
When he’s finished giving himself a trim,
he’ll want a broom to sweep up. He’ll start
sweeping. He might get carried away and
sweep every room in the house. He may
even end up washing the floor as well!

When he’s finished giving himself a trim, He will want a broom to sweep up.
what he will do?

That’s right!

When he’s done, he’ll probably want to

take a nap. You will have to fix a little box
for him with a blanket and a pillow. He’ll
crawl in, make himself comfortable and
fluffy the pillow a few times.

What is his bed made off? Made of a little box.

He’ll probably ask you to read him a story.

So you’ll read him one from you books;
and he’ll ask to see the pictures. When he
looks at the pictures, he’ll get so excited
he’ll want to draw one of his own. He’ll ask
for papers and crayons.

What does he feel when he looks at the He’ll get so excited.

pictures?

Yes correct!
He’ll draw a picture. When the picture is
finished, he’ll want to sign his name with a
pen. Then he’ll want to hang his picture on
your refrigerator. Which means he will
need… scotch tape.
What does he use to hang his picture on Scotch tape.
the refrigerator?

Correct! Continue reading now.

He’ll hang up his drawing and stand back

to look at it. Looking at the refrigerator will
remind him that he’s thirsty so… he’ll ask
for a glass of milk.
And the chances are if he asks for a
glass of milk, he’s going to want a cookie
to go with it.

Did you understand what you read? Yes Teacher.

Very Good! Now. Let’s answer the

question we have awhile ago, is Mickey a Yes.
good pet?

But how did you say so? Mickey is a good pet because he helps
cleaning the house by sweeping the floor.

Very good! Now let’s check how will you

understand?

4. Comprehension Check
1. Why Mickey looked for a mirror after Mickey asked for a mirror because he
drinking ? wanted to make sure that he doesn’t have
a milk mustache.

2 . Why Mickey asked for a pair of nail He asked for a pair of nail scissors
scissors? because he will give himself a trim for his
hair.

3. Why he wanted a broom? He asked for a broom because he will

sweep every room in the house.

4. Why Mickey fluffed the pillow many Mickey fluffed the pillow many times
times? because he wants to make his self
comfortable before taking a nap.

5. Why Mickey asked for paper and Mickey asked for paper and crayons
crayon? because he’ll want to draw one of his own
pictures he would see in the story book.
5. Discussion
I have here some sentences which are
based on you answer. Please read the first
sentence.

What is the reason why Mickey asked for Mickey asked for a mirror because he
mirror? wanted to make sure that he doesn’t have
milk mustache.

Very good! The reason why Mickey asked

for a mirror because he wants to make
sure that he doesn’t have a milk mustache.
This part is what we call the cause.
Everybody, please repeat after me, Cause
“cause.”

Alright, what is the result of the reason “he

wants to make sure that he doesn’t have a
milk mustache?” Mickey asked for a mirror.

Very good! The reason “he wants to make

sure that he doesn’t have a milk
mustache” leads to the result “Mickey will
ask for a mirror”. This part is what we call
“effect”. Everybody please say “effect” Effect

Let’s have another example

Now, analyze the sentence. Which part

explains why a thing happened?
He asked for a pair of nail scissors
because he will give himself a trim for his
hair.

Very good! And what do you call this part He give himself a trimmed for his hair.
which explains the reason? Cause

Which part states what will happen? Or He asked for a pair of nail scissors.
what will be the result?

Correct! And what do you call that part? Effect

Very good! So based on these examples,

what do you think is the meaning of
cause? Cause is the reason.
Very good! Just like what the saying goes,
everything happens for a reason, and the
reason is what we call cause. Please read
the definition of cause.
Cause is the reason why something
happens.

Alright based on the examples, how do

you define effect?
Effect is the result.
Very good! When we say effect this is the
result. Please read the definition of the
effect. Effect is the result from the cause.

It answers the question “what happened?”

Read this example:

Mickey fluffed the pillow many times
because he wants to make himself
comfortable before taking a nap.

What is the cause in the sentence? He wants to make himself comfortable

before taking a nap.

Very good! How about the effect? Mickey fluffed the pillow many times.

Correct! What do you think will happen

first? The cause or the effect? The cause.

Correct! Always remember that the cause

always happens first. But it is not required
to write the cause first. Just like this Mickey fluffed the pillow many times
example. Read it again. because he wants to make himself
comfortable before taking a nap.

“Mickey fluffed the pillow many times” The effect.

Is it the cause or the effect?

How about “He wants to make his self

comfortable before taking a nap”. Is it the The cause
cause or the effect?

So which is written first? The effect.

So it means that you can interchange the

position of your cause and effect. The
effect may be written first. Did you
understand? Yes Teacher.

Observe your example again, what word

did you used to connect or introduce the
effect to the cause? Because

Very good! This is one of those words that

are used to connect or introduce a cause
or an effect. They are called “connectives”.
Everybody please read.
Connectives- words used to link two or
more phrases. It is used to connect or
introduce a cause or an effect. Ex. If, so,
since, because, therefore, consequently.

Let’s go back to the previous example.

Please read.
Mickey asked for a mirror because he
wanted to make sure that he doesn’t have
a milk mustache.

What is the connectives that we used?

Correct! Because.
Which comes first? Is it the cause or the
effect? The effect.

Very good! Let’s have another example.

The cause: Misha pierce the balloon using Therefore, the balloon pop.
a ballpen. Give me the effect.

Alright did you understand our lesson? Yes Teacher.

That’s great! Give yourselves an “angel

clap”.

using connectives.

What are the commonly used connectives The commonly used connectives are if,
that can be use to introduce cause or so, because, since, therefore,

8. Valuing Process
Alright, Mickey’s owner or the boy gives
the mouse whatever he asks for because
in return Mickey the mouse is also a good
pet. Is it okay to share your blessing? Like
what the boy did? Yes Teacher.

also to give to others what we received
from him. Did you understand?
Yes Teacher.
