Dear children,
Summer vacation has begun. It is time for relaxation and enjoyment. As it is
important to rest & enjoy, it is also important to continue to learn. Strike a
balance between work and play and allow your child to grow in the process.
Let vacation time be a doorway to self- dependence (small things that a child
can do), learning, growth and joy.
But as you are already aware about the situation this year, all out-of-home
activities and social interactions have stopped, too. We are unable to go out and
need to stay at home. In such times, keeping kids engaged with creative
activities, we have some interesting holiday homework for your child this
vacation. Holiday assignments are focused to let the creative and latent talents,
skills and desires of the children come to the surface so that they may be
identified and satisfied. Enjoy doing the activities with your child and ensure
timely completion of the given assignments.

Few suggestions that you may follow:

 Set a schedule for the weekdays and weekends. Children do their best if
there are plans for each day.

 Narrate simple stories to your child. Ask them to recall the characters
and incidents in a story by asking them questions.

 Teach social skills and social graces to children. Teach the use of the
three magic words, “Sorry, Thank you and Please”.

 As you are your child’s first teacher, you can encourage your child’s
love for learning by participating in many activities at home. Working
together will help your child build confidence, become independent,
learn to reason and develop skills necessary for his/her education.
 Play indoor games with your child. Let your child help around the house
doing small jobs like dusting, cleaning the tables, filling water bottles,
watering plants, folding of clothes, helping in kitchen, cleaning their
rooms, laying table for dinner , winding up their toys , books etc.

 Inculcate the habit of personal hygiene by teaching them to brush their

teeth twice daily, bathing every day, washing hands before and after
meal and regular trimming of hair and nails.

 ‘Work and Play are equally important’. Computer games are good.
They sharpen your intellect, but what about the rest of the body?
Encourage your child to participate in singing, dancing, exercise, yoga.

 Communication will play a pivotal role in grooming the overall

personality of the children. Converse with your child preferably in
English.

 On TV watch Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, National Geographic

etc.

Learning is fun

 Complete all the activities during the vacation.

 Original drawings/illustrations and creative use of material will be

appreciated.

 Parents are requested to guide the children to complete the task on their
own.

Some fun activity that can be tried at home

 Make colourful ice with Roohafza for red colour, khus for green colour
and orange squash for orange colour.

 Let your child plant some seed in the pot and ask him /her to water it
every day. Let him/her observe and see the plant grow from a seed.

 Engage your child in flameless cooking like making sandwich, lemonade

or lassi, salads, fruit cocktail etc.
