General Objectives:
To gain more knowledge and experience in handling pediatrics patient
To be more familiar about nursing practice and health practices being implemented in Saint Paul
Hospital
Specific objectives:
to provide the necessary nursing care for the pediatric patient
to be able to learn and carry out doctor’s order
to be familiar to those medical abbreviation used in area
to render service like administering patient’s medicines, taking vital signs, giving health teachings and
providing care and emotional support.
Learnings:
Despite this being our third exposure to the area, I was nonetheless anxious. I'm not sure if it
has to do with dealing with patients alone. Although I am rather confident in what I'm doing. I started
being careful while documenting and administering medication to my patients. Where do I go over the
drug manual's uses section before providing a medicine to a patient. I also tried to administer ampicillin
through IV and for me it served as a new experience because it was my first time administering a drug
through IV. I also learned how to come up with improvised solutions in order to provide the best
possible care to the patient. I felt tired, but I just didn’t mind it and continued taking care of my patient.
Being associated with the hospital was a wonderful experience because I was able to learn new
things that would help me improve my skills. I've now come across a variety of scenarios that I had not
before experienced, such as caring for a patient with AGE, which is extremely common, and also
considering the correct treatment to provide my patient. I had gained enough to learn, and I was able to
share the best care I could give.
