Join Us at Our Upscale Pub Crawl
In recognition of Banned Books week, the Redwood City Library
Foundation (RCLF) is holding an Upscale Pub Crawl on
September 21, 2022 from 5 - 8 pm. Ticket holders will start at
the Downtown Library and stroll downtown to enjoy a

In 1922, there were speakeasies – pubs serving banned beverages
had to quietly let people know where they could share a drink.
In 2022, we are making sure that libraries do not become the
speakeasies for banned books.
Banning books is banning stories, and banning people’s stories is
banning people. Banning someone’s truth is banning their humanity.

Construction on our RESCU projects continues with significant work being completed every day. All three projects (Gravity
Pipeline, Pump Stations Improvements, and Front of Plant) have our full attention and are proceeding along schedule with
major milestones recently achieved and more on the horizon.

FROnt OF pLAnt
At the Front of Plant site, construction work progresses at the Surge and Flow Splitter (SFS) shaft. SVCW’s contractor partner,
Shea Parsons Joint Venture (SPJV), continues with construction to complete the upper sections of the second pass walls.
At the Receiving Lift Station (RLS), installation of the manifold piping and main RLS pumps is ongoing.

SVCW’s path breaking Gravity Pipeline (GP) project is nearing final completion!
SVCW’s contractor partner for the project, Bernard Bessac Joint Venture (BBJV),
completed construction of the 3.3-mile gravity tunnel, which will become the main link
in SVCW's new wastewater conveyance system to carry raw wastewater from the pump
stations to the Headworks facility at the Front of Plant. Completion of the tunnel
construction is a significant milestone for SVCW, achieving a goal nearly 10 years in the
making from planning to construction. SVCW and BBJV are now working together
with the other RESCU project teams to coordinate startup activities for the entire
rehabilitated SVCW wastewater conveyance system. Startup of the system requires
additional coordination with the Front of Plant and Pump Stations Improvements
projects, since all 3 projects will function together for the complete operation of the
system. Startup coordination activities will be ongoing throughout the RESCU Program
until the middle of 2023. Completed Fiberglass Reinforced

Construction progresses on the Belmont Gravity Pipeline (BGP) along Shoreway Road in Belmont and San Carlos. Last
month, construction of Jacking Shaft 3 (JS-3) was completed and two-way traffic along Shoreway Road reopened. If all
goes as planned, by the time this update is published, SVCW’s contractor partner, Shea Parsons Joint Venture (SPJV), and
SPJV’s subcontractor Power Engineering Construction (PEC), will have completed Phase 4 of construction work. With
the conclusion of microtunneling between Jacking Shaft 4 (JS-4) to Receiving Shaft 4 (RS-4), Vadnais Trenchless has
removed the microtunnel boring machine (MTBM). e next adventure for the MTBM will be to microtunnel from JS-
4 to RS-3. roughout all of the microtunneling operations, SPJV and PEC continue to ensure a high level of coordination
with the SVCW public outreach team and neighboring businesses to limit impacts to traffic and construction noise. At the
Redwood City Pump Station (RCPS), SPJV continues structural work at the pump station wet well and screening structure.
SPJV also continues to proceed with structural and electrical work at the Menlo Park Pump Station (MPPS).
