Reading Comprehension
“Spring Cleaning”
Last week was really busy at home. Mom and dad decided it was time for Spring cleaning, so they asked all of
us (my two brothers and me) to help them with some chores. It was a heavy-duty job but it was actually a lot of
fun. I helped mom clean out the garage. She was full of energy! My dad did the dishes and my brothers washed
the whole house. After lunch, we all sat outdoors and enjoyed some delicious, cool lemonade that mom made
for us. In the afternoon, we all went up to the attic. We were looking at boxes full of stuff and old family photos.
My mom painted the walls and my dad fixed the roof. Finally, we watered the garden. It all ended in a water
battle. That was nice. After a long day’s work everyone was exhausted so dad thought it was a good idea to go
for an ice cream. On our way back home, we stopped at our favorite restaurant and had dinner. We were glad
we didn’t have to do any more dishes.
