Engineering Drawing (Cupe 119) : Draw The Development of Following Truncated Cone

This document contains 5 engineering drawing questions asking students to develop the surfaces of various 3D shapes that have been cut or truncated. Students are asked to develop the surfaces of a truncated cone, a cut cylinder, a cut cone, a cut hexagonal pyramid, and the surface of a chimney model fitted over an inclined plane roof. The questions provide diagrams of the 3D shapes and ask students to draw the developments of their cut or remaining surfaces.

Tutorial 1 and Exercise material

Question 1
Draw the development of following truncated cone

Question 2
Develop the lateral surface of the cylinder of 40mm diameter and height 60mm cut in the
following way.
Question 3
A cone of base diameter 60mm and height 70mm is resting on its base on HP. It is cut as shown
in the following figure. Draw the development of the lateral surface of the remaining portion of
the cone.

Question 4

A hexagonal pyramid of 30mm base sides with a side of base parallel to VP. Draw the
development of the lateral surfaces of the retained portions of the pyramid cut by two
perpendicular planes shown by dark lines in the figure. [20marks]

Figure Question 4
Question 5 Following figure shows the front view of a model of a steel chimney of diameter 54
mm made from a flat thin sheet metal fitted over an inclined plane roof. Develop the portion of
the chimney. [20marks]
