Dora Redden Introduction

Dora Redden is a plant growth regulator containing 95% propyl dihydrojasmonate that promotes color development in apples and grapes. It works by enhancing accumulation of anthocyanins and carotenoids while also promoting chlorophyll degradation. Studies show 1-2 applications of 100-200g Dora Redden per hectare 7-14 days before harvest improves apple color, and a single application of 50g per hectare at color turning improves grape color. It has also been shown to improve citrus harvesting efficiency when combined with gibberellin and ethephon.

What Is Prohydrojasmon?
Prohydrojasmon, is a synthetically made plant growth regulator that is structurally similar and functionally
identical to jasmonic acid, a naturally occurring plant growth regulator present in all vascular plants. Jasmonic acid
is involved with fruit colour development in red apple varieties by enhancing accumulation of anthocyanin, which
is a red pigment and found predominantly in outer cell layers such as the epidermis and mesophyll cells in flowers
and fruits.
What fruit can it be used on?
Apples, grapes, and citrus fruits.
How to dissolve it?
Disssolve 5gram Dora Redden in 100ml ethyl alcohol.
Introduction of Propyl dihydrojasmonate

PDJ is a synthetically produced jasmonate. It is known to act as a functional analogue of jasmonic acid (JA)
in plants. Due to its higher chemical stability, it is much more active than methyl jasmonate.

Color JA enhances anthocyanin and carotene accumulation within fruit (Rudell

development et al., 2002).
Function JA enhances chlorophyll degradation within plants (Fan and Mattheis,
De-greening
1999)
Anti-stress Anti-cold, anti drought, anti disease and pest ,etc.
• Color improvement on apple & table grape
Current usage • GA3 enhancement on citrus.

Both of ABA and PDJ can promote fruit ripening and fruit anthocyanin
Similarity and differentce
content, but their machanisms are different. Study also shows PDJ
between PDJ and s-ABA
increased abscisic acid (ABA) in plants.

Dosage-Foliar spray

Apple 100ppm-200ppm, 100-200g PDJ 96% per/ha per year at 7 to 14day intervals, 7 to 42 days
prior to harvest, 1-2 applications

Grape 50ppm, 50g PDJ 96% per/ha at the color turning period, 2-3 applications
Apple

The PDJ treatments were applied at 28, 21, 14 and 7 days before of estimated harvest time, the result indicate that PDJ treatments have a significant
impact on color development of apple fruits.( E. Atay, 2015).

For improve the coloration of summer grapes, clusters of grafted 'Kyoho'(Vitis vinifera L. ×Vitis labruscana Bailey), tissue culture own-rooted 'Honey
Red' (Vitis vinifera L. × Vitis labrusca L.) grapevines were treated with N-Propyl Dihydrojasmonate (PDJ) on the 37th day after full bloom. The results
showed that anthocyanin accumulation on berry skin of PDJ 100 ppm treatment was heighter than that by 50 ppm treatment. PDJ treatments
promoted berry coloration and TSS of juice, but there were not significant effects on acidity, berry size and chlorophyll content of berry skin as
compared with the untreated one.(Chiang et al.,2006)

Grape

The 50 mg·L-1 PDJ treatment was the most effective in improving the coloration and quality of the ‘Christmas Rose’ grape berry in the trial.(SUN
Xiaowen et al.,2016)

Citrus

Improvement in Handpicking Efficiency of Satsuma Mandarin Fruit with Combination Treatments of Gibberellin, Prohydrojasmon and Ethephon。

The results indicated that the treatment of 5 mg·L−1 GA plus 50 mg·L−1 PDJ in late September combined with ET (200 mg·L−1 < ET < 300 mg·L−1)
from late October to early November was suitable for increasing SRH( success rate of handpicking)without impairing fruit quality and causing
serious leaf abscission. (Keiko Sato and Yoshinori Ikoma,2016)
