Metro Lite and Neo

Metrolite and Metroneo are proposed rail-based transit systems for tier 2/3 Indian cities. Metrolite uses standard gauge track and electric multiple units, while Metroneo uses rubber-tired electric coaches running on overhead electrification or batteries. Both aim to provide metro-level comfort and safety at lower costs than heavy metro systems. Key differences include Metrolite's use of tracks and higher capacity/speed, while Metroneo's trackless design and ability to operate on batteries make it more flexible. Cities under consideration for the first projects include Ritala-Narela, Gorakhpur, Jammu, and Srinagar for Metrolite and Nashik, Warangal
