Ans:

1. Tropical Rainforest Region:


 Here the Sun always rises and set at the same time.
 So, it always gets a 12 hours day and 12 hours night.
2. Monsoon Region:
 In summers, this region gets up heated.
 This result in low pressure and attracts moist-cloud winds from sea.
3. Tropical Desert Region:
 Here, climate is hot and day.
 The temperature is high in day.
 Night is pleasant for few hours.

Q2. Discuss the characteristics of rainforest region in detail?

Ans: Rainforest are the thick evergreen forests found in the tropical and
temperate belts in both northern and southern hemispheres.

Countries: The tropical rainforest cover the countries of Congo, Algeria,


Africa, Ecuador, Brazil, Columbia, South America, Asia, South Africa,
Southern China, Australia and Zealand.

Climate:

 The rainforest region has warm and wet climate conditions.


 Mean monthly temperature exceeds 18 °C throughout the year.
 High rainfall is about 600 mm annually.

Vegetation:

 It is most thickly forest covered region of the world.


 More than 50% of plant species of the world are found here.
 The people of have their own specific culture.

regions.

Ans: Monsoon Region: Monsoon Region lie between 80° to 30° north and
south latitudes India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Central America, East Africa,
Brazil, Malaysia, Philippines and Queensland in Australia are included in
this region.

Climate:

 The winters are cool and dry while the summers are hot and wet.
 Most of the rainfall is in summer.
 200 mm rainfall is received.

Vegetation:

 The forest cover of the areas with less rainfall is dominated by


deciduous trees. However, every green forest can be found in the
areas, where sufficient rainfall is received.
 Common plants are sandal, teak wood and bamboo.
 Agriculture is practiced.

 Paddy, millet, pulses, sugarcane, coffee, tea and tobacco are the
major crops.

Mediterranean Region: Mediterranean region is a narrow zone between 32°


to 40° latitude in the north and south of the equator.

Greece, Malta, Algeria, Spain and Egypt etc have this types of climate
conditions.

Climate:

 The climates are hot and try in summer and wet and mild in winter.
 Rainfall occurs in winter and very little or no rainfall in summer.

Vegetation:

 The vegetation of this region is dominated by olive, citrus fruits (orange


and lemons) etc, grapes.
 Tourism is another leading industry.

Q5. What are the regions with scanty rainfall and arid climate conditions?
Ans: Deserts can be hot desert and cold desert.

Location: The major deserts of the world are in the western coast of the
continents between 15° and 3 ° latitudes in both the sides of the equator.
Examples are the Sahara, the Great Australian, the Arabian and the
Atacama Desert.

Climate:

 Desserts are the hottest places on the Earth.


 In the hot deserts, no cold season can be seen at all.
 The temperate of the cold deserts remains below freezing point in
winter.

Vegetation: Some forms of vegetation such as scrubs, herbs and weeds


can grow in deserts.

Desert fauna includes kangaroo, rat coyote, jack, rabbit, and many
lizards.
