REVISION OF FUNDING RATES

1. With the cessation of Skills Programme for Upgrading and Resilience (SPUR) on 30 November 2010, the SDF funding rates for courses commencing from 1 December 2010 will be revised as follows: Type of Courses Workplace Safety and Health courses Other certifiable courses Non-certifiable courses Funding ^Courses Targeted at Component Rank-and-File level Course Fee Course Fee Course Fee 90% of course fee 80% of course fee capped at S$7/hour *Courses Targeted at PMET level 70% of course fee 50% of course fee capped at S$15/hour

PLUMBING & PIPEFITTING


A 135-hour training course leading to a Skills Evaluation Certificate (K) recognised by MOM for lower levy

INTRODUCTION This course provides training to workers in the plumbing and pipefitting trade and certifies their skills. Plumbers who wish to upgrade their skills and knowledge should attend this course. COURSE OBJECTIVE At the end of the course, the participant will be able to use plumbing tools, equipment and materials for installation of water and sanitary plumbing. COURSE CONTENTS This is a practical and theoretical-oriented course. Topics covered include:- uPVC pipework - Copper pipework - Fixing of appliances - Installation projects - Developing good work attitude and safety ENTRY REQUIREMENTS - At least 18 years of age and medically fit; - Singapore Citizens, Singapore Permanent Residents or holders of valid work permit; - Minimum 1 year experience in plumbing trade; and - Able to understand and communicate in language of instruction LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION - English - For other languages, the company can provide their own language interpreter to assist during the training sessions if:i) the company enrol a minimum of 12 participants in the same class; and ii) the language is available in the SEC(K) written test. (Company must inform Enrolment Officer for this special arrangement during application) CERTIFICATION Upon successful completion of the course, participants who achieved at least 75% attendance and have passed the tests will be issued the Skills Evaluation Certificate (K) in Plumbing and Pipefitting.

ADMINISTRATION DETAILS
Fee Payment Payment must be made when registering for a course to be assured of a training place. No invoice will be issued. Applicants must still meet course entry requirements, if any. Walk-in applicants will only be admitted on the basis of availability and full payment. Replacement, Withdrawal, Deferment and Programme Switching Replacement and Withdrawal 50% refund will be made if the notice of withdrawal in writing is received by BCA Academy at least 2 weeks before the course commencement date. If such notice is received by BCA Academy less than 2 weeks but more than 3 working days before the course commencement date, 25% refund will be made. No refund will be given if BCA Academy received the notice of withdrawal 3 working days or less before the course commencement date. Replacement of participants is allowed if the substitute meets all the entry requirements and the request is made at least 3 working days before the commencement of the course. Deferment and Programme Switching An administration fee of 25% of the course fee is chargeable if notice in writing is received by BCA Academy at least 2 weeks before the course commencement date. An administration fee of 50% of the course fee is chargeable if the notice is received by BCA Academy less than 2 weeks but more than 3 working days before the course commencement date. No deferment or programme switching is allowed if BCA Academy received the notice 3 working days or less before the commencement date of the course. Any refund arising from programme switching should not be more than 10% of the course fee. BCA Academy reserves the right to amend the course details, revise the course fee without prior notice, to cancel or postpone the course due to unforeseen circumstances.
