PART 1 GENERAL
1.01 SUMMARY
1.02 This specification shall define the electrical characteristic, mechanical characteristics and
design requirements for a single-phase, solid-state uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
The UPS shall provide continuous AC power for critical electronic equipment loads.
The UPS system defined within this specification shall be designed and manufactured
according to latest revision of the following standards. Where a conflict arises between
these documents and statements made herein, the statements in this specification shall
prevail.
A. UL Standard 1778, 4th Edition; and c-UL Listed
B. CSA 22.2 No. 107.1
C. NEMA Type 1 Enclosure
D. FCC Part 15, Class B
E. IEC 61000-3-2
F. ANSI C62.41, Category A
G. ANSI/NFPA 70
H. EN62040-2
1. NORMAL - Under normal input conditions energy from the mains shall be
channeled through the input converter, which supplies the output
converter and, together with the battery charger, keeps the battery fully
charged. Surges and spikes shall be blocked completely at the input
converter and very unstable mains can be supported. The output
converter synthesizes a completely new AC output sine wave to supply
the load (electrical equipment).
1.05 SUBMITTALS
A. Catalog and/or technical data sheets describing the proposed equipment shall be
submitted with the proposal. The manufacturer’s product safety certification shall
be furnished giving company names and UPS model numbers. All deviations to
this specification shall be identified and included with the proposal.
C. Before shipment, the manufacturer shall fully and completely test the system to
assure compliance with the specification. These tests shall include operational
discharge and recharge tests on the internal battery to guarantee rated
performance.
A. Store the UPS in a clean, dry location with the batteries in a fully charged state.
C. If the unit is stored for an extended period of time, the batteries shall be
recharged periodically. Be sure that the batteries are connected to the UPS.
Subsequently connect the unit to a wall outlet and recharge the batteries for 24
hours where the following environmental conditions apply:
1. If the storage temperature is within -4 and 86°F (-20 and +30°C) every 12
months.
2. If the storage temperature is within -4 and 122°F (-20 and +50°C) every 3
months.
