EBISD Dress Code 2021-2022 (Junior High)
Dress and Grooming
The district’s dress code teaches grooming and hygiene, prevents disruption, and minimizes safety hazards.
Students and parents may determine a student’s personal dress and grooming standards, provided that they
comply with the following:
GUIDE FOR MALE STUDENTS
1. May wear full length shorts with a length not to exceed 5" above the knee. No bicycle shorts or excessively tight
shorts will be allowed.
2. Frayed or un-hemmed clothing will not be permitted. No shorts or clothing with holes are permitted.
3. No sweatpants, or baggy joggers may be worn as a substitute for regular school clothing. Athletic pants that are
tailored may be permissible. Baggy pants will not be permitted. Pants are not to be worn below the waist line.
No Dickie pants may be worn.
4. Belts should not be long enough to hang down from the waist. Belts must be worn in pants that require belts.
5. House type shoes will not be worn.
6. No sleeveless shirts. Shirts must be closed (buttoned) to within two buttons of the collar or to an equivalent
position. All shirts must be neatly tucked in. Shirts shall not be bloused or rolled up to appear they are tucked
in. Belt or waistline must be showing.
7. Boy’s hair may not extend below the eyebrows, below the tops of the ears or below a conventional standup
shirt collar, and must not be more than one inch difference in the length of the hair on the side to the length of
the hair on top. This includes but not limited to tall hair styles, side swept bang styles, and long hair dangling
over shaved sides or shaved back of the head. This also includes mullets and mullets in the making. Braided hair
or twisted rows/strands will not be allowed. No extremes in hair styles. Examples: psychedelic colors; obvious
contrast of two colors, shaved-in lines, letters or designs. Hair cannot be bleached or dyed. No notched
eyebrows are allowed.
8. Students will be clean shaven, wear no mustache/beard/or goatee, and sideburns cannot extend below the
earlobe. Eyebrows may not be notched or shaved.
9. Earring(s) of any type are not permitted in school or at school functions.
10. Any apparel or hairstyle that may reasonably be expected to cause disruption of or interfere with normal school
operations shall be prohibited.
11. No apparel worn may have wording or logos that suggest drugs, sex, alcohol or vulgarity.
12. Gang-related apparel is prohibited, including but not limited to:
- hats or headgear
- chains
- hair nets or bandannas
- monikers or other gang markings
- spiked rings, bracelets, or long earrings
- jewelry with gang symbols
- dropped suspenders
- no flannel shirt may be worn as a jacket
- any combination of clothing that law enforcement agencies currently consider gang-related.
13. No caps, hats, headbands or bandanas will be worn unless approved by the campus principal on spirit days. On
spirit days, caps will be worn with the bill facing forward and are not allowed to be worn inside the building.
14. No exposed tattoos or brands.
15. No duster type, trench coats, or excessively large jackets will be permitted. (Must be compatible with size of the
student)
16. Laser pointers are not permitted at school or at school functions.
17. No pierced tongues or tongue rings. Teeth grills may not be worn.
18. Only prescription contacts and sunglasses are permissible.
19. All students are expected to wear regular school dress on field trips unless otherwise approved by the campus
Principal.
20. Jackets with hoods may be worn inside the building but hood must not be on.
GUIDE FOR FEMALE STUDENTS
1. Female students will be expected to wear conservative dress. No extreme styles causing unusual
comments or reaction will be permitted. Excessively tight tops, dresses, tank tops, strapless tops, lace-up
bodices, spaghetti straps, short shirts which allow the midriff to be seen; slit skirts will not be allowed.
2. Shorts shall not exceed 5” above the knee in length.
3. Skirts, long shirts, and dresses shall not exceed 3" above the knee in length. No bicycle shorts or
excessively tight clothing will be allowed. Frayed, clothing with holes, and un-hemmed clothing will not be
permitted. This includes jeans! No sweatpants, or baggy joggers may be worn as a substitute for regular
school clothing. Athletic pants that are tailored may be permissible. Baggy pants will not be permitted.
Pants are not to be worn below the waist line. No Dickie pants may be worn.
4. Fabrics must be suitable for everyday wear-- no slinky or see-through fabrics.
5. Wooden or hard composition soles, house shoe type, shower shoes, or shoes that make noise will not be
allowed.
6. Any apparel or hairstyle that may reasonably be expected to cause disruption of or interference with
normal school operations shall be prohibited.
7. Earrings may be worn "ONLY" on the earlobe (bottom of ear) with no more than two piercings.
8. No apparel worn may have wording or logos that suggest drugs, alcohol or vulgarity.
9. No caps, hats, bandanas or bandanas used as headbands will be worn unless approved by the campus
principal on spirit days. Caps will be worn with the bill facing forward.
10. No extremes in hair styles including psychedelic colors, abnormal colors, shaved-in lines,
shaved sides, shaved underneath or with letters or designs. Eyebrows may not be notched
or shaved.
11. Gang-related apparel is prohibited, including but not limited to:
- hats or headgear
- chains
- hair nets or bandanas
- monikers or other gang markings
- spiked rings, bracelets, or long earrings
- jewelry with gang symbols
- dropped suspenders
- no flannel shirt may be worn as a jacket.
- any combination of clothing that law enforcement agencies currently consider gang-
related.

of the student)

19. Proper undergarments must be worn at all times.
20. Leggings may not be worn as stand-alone pants but may be worn under dresses, long shirts, etc. IF the
dress, shirt, skirt, etc. meets all other dress code criteria including length.
21. No spaghetti strap, strapless, or tank top garments are allowed.
