Histopathology Report: Lymphoma Diagnosis

This histopathology report summarizes the findings of a trucut biopsy of a left cervical lymph node. Microscopic examination found atypical lymphoid cells forming diffuse sheets that were CD20 and Bcl2 positive, CD3 and CD5 negative, with a 40% Ki67 proliferation index, consistent with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of germinal center type. The patient had a history of left cervical lymphadenopathy and gross thrombocytopenia.

Received in formalin are two cores and two fragments of core. The cores are measuring 17 mm,
submitted in block (A) and 9 mm and two fragments measuring 4 mm and 2 mm, submitted in block (B).

Micro: Sections reveal tissue cores showing atypical lymphoid cells arranged in diffuse sheets.
