Grade 9 Math: Triangle Similarity

This document provides details of a mathematics lesson for 9th grade students on the conditions for similarity of triangles. The lesson will be taught by Teacher Ronalyn O. Lim at Dr. Quintin Balcita Sr. National High School. The lesson aims to have students illustrate triangle similarity theorems, prove the conditions for similarity, and apply the theorems to determine if triangles are similar. Students will learn the SAS, SSS, AA, right triangle, and special right triangle similarity theorems through examples and worksheets. The lesson adheres to standards for most essential learning competencies and objectives and promotes critical thinking, creativity, and reasoning skills in students.

Steps Teaching & Learning Activities Remarks
(Duration)
ENGAGE - Facilitate Preliminaries
*5 MINS (Greetings)(Checking of the Seat Plan) (Observation of the Health
and safety Standards).
- Present set of figures thru PowerPoint presentation. Let the learners
pair the figures according to its number of sides or shape.

EXPLORE Present another set of triangles. Let the learners observe the
measures of angles and sides of the triangles.
Guide questions:
What did you observe in the given set of triangles?
What are the commonalities between them?
EXPLAIN The learners will explain what they have observed in the previous
activity about similar triangles. They will state its characteristics to
prove the triangles are similar.
ELABORATE Presentation of the conditions for similarity of triangles.
1.1 SAS similarity theorem
1.2 SSS similarity theorem
1.3 AA similarity theorem
1.4 Right triangle similarity theorem
1.5 Special right triangle theorems.
Present illustrative examples.
EVALUATE Assess the learners thru worksheet - formative assessment.
ASSIGNMENT/ Search Pythagorean Theorem on the internet.
