INTRODUCTION
• The equipment is the key to build a chicken farm to pay a fully
automated.
• It can effectively save manpower resources, create more wealth.
WHAT IS AUTOMATED POULTRY FARM?
• This all-in-one system is suitable for all types of broilers, layers,
breeders and pullets.
• It regulates, controls And monitors all your poultry house
processes, such as climate, feed, water, lighting, animal weight, egg
count and egg flow optimisation.
AUTOMATED FEEDERS &
DRINKERS
AUTOMATIC FEEDERS
• In case of automatic feedersthe feed is applied to the entire length of
the poultry house by specially designed feed troughs with auger type or
chain type devices to move the feed from the feed bins to the other
end.
• These are operated with electricity and the height of the feeder can be
ajusted depending upon the age of the birds.
Bell type AUTOMATIC waterer
• These are made of high impact plastic in a be shaed usualy suspended
from separate pipeline for the purpose.
• This type of waterers has control over the water flow and maintains the
required water level always.
• There will be a continuous flow of water so as to ensure water available
for the birds throughout the day.
AUTOMATION IN CHICK
HANDLING
AUTOMATIC CHICK & SHELL
SEPARATOR
• For efficiently separating day old chicks and egg shell.
• The hatcher basket’s contents – chicks, shells, and eggs are
tripped on to a belt conveyer by an automatic tripping system.
• Day old chicks are cleanly and efficiently separated from shell,
with waste product collected into a hopper to be removed
from the building by a waste removal system.
CHICK COUNTING & BOXING
SYSTEM
• For friendly chick counting and boxing.
• Chicks passing on the conveyors are from the other to prevent
counting errors.
• Chicks are counted as they pass a microprocessor controlled infra-red
counting head, at an average net rate of 30,000 Chicks/hour.
• The number of Chicks per box or compartment is adjustable.
SPRAY VACCINATOR
• For vaccination against infectious bronchitus and Newcastle disease.
• By creating a mist of vaccine due to the combination with compressed
air, maximum inhalation of the vaccine by the chicks is ensured.
• Compressed air vaccine spray is activated automatically as each chick
box passes underneath.
• A detection system automatically registers the presence of a chick
box, so that spray is only applied when chicks are present.
IN- LINE SEXING SYSTEM
• For feather, colour and cloaca/ vent sexing day old chicks.
• Chicks enter the in-line sexing system and are diverted over to
conveyers on each side of the sexing line.
• Both sides have workstations, where operators can observe the chicks
to determine gender.
• The slow moving conveyer and slide system returns any unsexed
chicks to the sart point.
HATCHERY
AUTOMATION
OVOGRADER
• An electronic grader for hatching eggs at the hatchery.
• The system uses electronic weighing units, grading the eggs into
four user defined sizes.
• It opens the possibility to sort egg sizes to suit specific Incubation
processes to increase hatchability
• As rollersare used for moving the eggs through the egg handling
system, it enables quality inspection such as candling and grading.
OVOSET PRO
• Ovoset pro is the perfect solution for accurate and gentle setting
of hatching eggs, directly onto setter trays.
• The setter trays are automatically handled and positioned for egg
transfer and setting.
TROLLEY LOADER
• The Trolley loader is developed to automate the complete egg
packing process and to increase productivity.
• The manual handling of heavy setter trays in to the trolley, that
increases the chance of injury.
• The trolley loader is designed for the fully automatic loading or
unloading of various setter trays and containers
INCUBATION EQUIPMENTS
SETTER
• It is a machine in which proper temperature, humidity and turning are
provided for the first 19 days of incubating chicken egg.
HATCHER
• It is similar to setter but turning mechanism is not available and the
trays are designed to hold the newly hatched chicks.
• Here, the eggs are placed for the last 3 days of Incubation.
• Various styles of setter and hatcher found around the world include,
1. Tunnel type incubators
2. Vertical fan incubators
3. Walk-in or corridor incubators
HATCHERY AUTOMATION
EQUIPMENTS
• Hatcher tray washers
• Waste removal systems
• Egg transfer machines
• In-ovo vaccination equipment
• Chick box washers
• Rack washers
• Vaccinating / sexing / grading systems
• High pressure pumps
COMPRESSED AIR SYSTEM
• Some incubators require compressed air to actuate the turning
mechanism for the racks of eggs.
• A large central compressed air system is needed for blowing down dust
and other dry cleaning in the hatchery.
EMERGENCY STAND BY ELECTRIC
PLANTS
• When there is a failure in the local electricity supply, the incubators
must have a secondary source of electricity.
• The standby electrical generator should have the capacity to support
the all essential services of the hatchery.
Hatching egg transfer machines
• This is used to transfer eggs from the breeder farm tray to hatcher
trays.
• Vacuum egg lifts usually employed in the hatcheries handling large
volume of eggs.
EGG CANDLER
• It is a lighting device, used to find out the internal structure of the eggs.
• Two types of egg candlers are available, individual and mass candlers.
WATER HEATERS
• Hot water will be necessary for operating most hatchery, tray washers
and for general clean up.
• A large capacity boiler is generally used to provide hot water
WATER SOFTENERS & FILTERS
• Water with high total disolved salts will cause deposits on the humidity
controls, spray nozzles, jets and valve seats.
• Therefore filter systems ad water softness are necessary to reduce the
tedious content of the water used for hatchery operations.
AUTOMATION IN CHICK
BROODING
AUTOMATED CHICKS BROODING •
SYSTEM USING IOT
• Using Internet of things (iot) based technology for
creating, monitoring and maintaining an ideal and
comfortable environmental condition during brooding.
• Temperature monitoring system for prudent brooding
may be a system that creates efficient uses of resources
at disposal to extend the heat of the chicken.
• The system uses a sensor to detect the temperature of
poultry farm and maintains the temperature
automatically, rather than heating whole poultry as an
atomic structure and so the temperature to which its to
be increased so as to create the case most favourable to
the chicken in poultry
• The system is meant to take care of the air quality of the
plant to scale back excessive concentrations of air
pollutants like ammonia and greenhouse emission
which, in contrast to the traditional energy, primarily
uses solar panels reducing the farmer energy
consumption and thus, help in reducing carbon
footprints.
• Thus the system design provides an efficient poultry
farm temperature monitoring system to monitor the
healthy atmosphere for chickens in poultry farms.
AUTOMATION IN POULTRY
WASTE MANAGEMENT
Hatchery WASTE MANAGEMENT
• Solid hatchery waste comprises empty shells, infertile eggs, dead
embryos, late hatchings and dead chickens and a viscous liquid from
eggs and decaying tissue.
• The hatchery waste can be automatically fed by conveyer belts in to
furnace which is equipped with a rotating shredder unit for chopping
and grinding solid waste.
• An incinerator system can be used as a furnace to heat the solid and
liquid waste to produce steam.
• The system can power a turbine generator to produce electricity.
MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENTS
BREAK TRIMMER
• It is an electrical device used to cut a portion of beak in order to
prevent cannibalism Among birds.
• The equipment will be mounted on to a stand of convenient height
with a peddle connected to the top of the unit with a chain/strong
thread so that uon pressing the peddle with the foot of the operator
the hot blade slides down cutting the beak placed over a small
platform in the equipment.
• The equipment is also provided with a thermostat to regulate
temperature.
NEST BOXES
• These are used to get clean eggs and avoid floor eggs i layer or breeder
houses .
• These may be individual, communal or trap nest.
WEIGHING BALANCES
• Different types of weighing balances are available to weigh birds or feed
for record and marketing purposes.
AUTOMATIC VACCINATORS
• It is used to inject different doses of vaccine to large number of birds in
shorter period either through intra-muscular or subcutaneous root.
AUTOMATION IN EGG
COLLECTION
EGG COLLECTION SYSTEM
• The automatic egg collection system is designed to coect eggs getly and preserve
the quality of the eggs.
• The egg collection system includes :
• 1. Machine egg collection
2. Longitudinal belt conveyers, providing the withdrawal of eggs of the
ends of batteries.
3. Transfers and inclined conveyer with lifting mechanism and egg
processing tables.
AUTOMATION IN POULTRY
PROCESSING
• Uploading- automated uploading systems have also been
developed and are usually part of a large modular crate system.
• This process is fully automated, motion or light sensors are used to
verify that no bird is left in the crate after tilting.
• Bleeding- high speed automated bleeding equipment employs a
railing system that positions the neck of the suspended birds in such a
way that the blood vessels can be opened with precision.
• De-feathering equipment- it is done by mechanical
pickers or pluckers equipped with rubber fingers that rub the
feathers off the carcass.
• Giblets harvest equipment- automated equipment can
be used to remove the hearts and lungs from the hanging packs.
