Health Perception-Health Management Pattern

The client stated that in her young age she’s health conscious which is evident in her

ADLs. She doesn’t have vices like cigarette smoking, alcohol drinking, nor illegal substance

abuse. As a result of living a healthful lifestyle, she mentioned that she doesn’t usually

experience fever, colds, nor cough. However, she added that she experiences headache

when the weather is too hot. When she’s asked about what she does whenever that

happens, the client said that she keeps herself hydrated by drinking plenty of water and

wears appropriate clothing such as lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing. This

goes to show that the client has a knowledge on how to take care of herself in such

situation. During her pregnancy, she took her mother’s pieces of advice regarding eating

healthy foods such as vegetables and fruits that will benefit her and her baby. Also, the

client shared that at her young age getting pregnant for the first time and unexpected, she

sought for guidance from her parents which she was told to visit clinics for peace of mind.

So, she did and had prenatal checkups. Now, after giving birth through normal spontaneous

delivery, she had a laceration which led to a hematoma in the perineal region. Upon

experiencing the symptoms and other discomforts, she immediately decided to have herself

checked in the hospital.
