High Performance Perforated Diffusers

The document discusses several models of perforated supply diffusers for heating, cooling, and ventilation applications. The models include adjustable pattern controllers on the face to allow for 1, 2, 3, or 4-way horizontal air discharge patterns or vertical projection. Performance data is provided for round neck diffusers listing airflow, static pressure, and noise criteria (NC) levels at various neck sizes and velocities. Dimensions and options like dampers, face materials, and mounting types are also described.

product description

APPLICATION Earthquake Loops

• Supply air diffuser that provides a horizontal air pattern along the ceiling
• Excellent VAV characteristics for maintaining pattern at reduced air flow
• Designed for constant or variable air volume heating, cooling, or ventilating
• Surface mounted or suspended grid system installations

PRODUCT FEATURES
• Steel construction with baked-on Arctic white finish (entire assembly)
• Core consists of 4 stamped, curved blade deflectors that are neck mounted
and off the face to help mask appearance from the room
• Field configurable 1, 2, 3, or 4 way blow patterns without changes in sound
or pressure
• Vertically projected air pattern is achievable by turning deflector blades down.
• Removable perforated face uses concealed spring clips. Pattern is 3/16”
diameter holes on 1/4” centers, 50% free area.
• 5 frame styles for lay-in T-bar, surface mount, concealed spline, tegular, and
9/16” narrow slot suspended grid systems

DIFFUSER OPTIONS
• Black painted back pan and deflectors
• Aluminum face only, 304 stainless steel face only, 304 stainless steel con-

product description
APPLICATION Earthquake Loops

• Roto Throw core provides a horizontal air pattern along the

ceiling, in a corner/diagonal pattern
• Excellent VAV characteristics for maintaining pattern at reduced
airflow
• Designed for heating, cooling, and ventilating.
PRODUCT FEATURES
• Arctic white unit including face, backpan, and controllers
• Core consists of 4 stamped, curved blade deflectors that are
neck mounted and off the face to help mask appearance from
the room
• Field configurable blow patterns without changes in sound or
pressure loss. Can be changed to side or corner/diagonal
blow.
• Vertically projected air pattern is achievable by turning deflector
blades down.
• Removable perforated face uses concealed spring clips. Pattern
is 3/16” diameter holes on 1/4” centers, 50% free area
• Round neck sizes 6” thru 14” diameters,
Square neck sizes 6" x 6" to 12" x 12"
• 5 frame styles for lay-in T-bar, surface mount, concealed spline,
tegular, and 9/16” narrow slot grid systems
DIFFUSER OPTIONS
• Model VD butterfly style volume control dampers
• Aluminum or Stainless Steel Construction
• Black backpan and controllers

Test Standard Pressure

Perforated Diffusers

• ANSI / ASHRAE standard 70 • Ps represents Static Pressure, inches of water

• Isothermal air used during testing. • Velocity Pressure, inches of water,is calculated (@ standard conditions) as:
Pv = (Velocity,fpm / 4005) 2
Sound Levels • Total pressure may be calculated by adding the Velocity pressure and Static
• NC is noise criteria curve that will not be exceeded at the operating point. pressure: Pt = Pv + Ps
This is determined by assuming a 10dB (ref: 10-12 watts) room attenuation
that is subtracted from the power levels in each of the 2nd thru 7th octave Neck Velocity
bands • Feet per minute (fpm), measured in the supply duct

Throw
• The numbers shown are throw distances, in feet, measured along the jet
trajectory axis relating to terminal velocities of 150, 100, & 50 fpm, with the jet
attached to the ceiling surface.
• 3-way throw distance is based on 2 cores in the same direction. 2-way throw
distance is based on 3 cores in the same direction.
