Summary: or capital letter labeled plate to make the correct letter pair. After finding each pair students will use
the ipad to find and trace the lettered pair they just discovered on the carpet.
Estimated This lesson will take up to 120 minutes. I plan on dividing the lesson into two days. Each day students
Duration: will be given 4 center choices with this activity being a center. They will play in each center for 15
minutes in the morning and then 15 minutes again in the afternoon. The first day they will spend 15
mins just finding the letter pairs and on day two after finding each pair on the carpet students will trace
that same letter on the ipad.

Instructional Procedures: (This will be one of the most detailed sections of this assignment).
Day 1:
During the first circle the teacher will begin by introducing the theme of the week to all of the students. “This week we
will be talking about our ABC’s, do you know what they are called? Letters!” The teacher will ask questions to get an
understanding of what students know about letters: “Where do we usually see letters”.... In books, on street signs, on
the computer etc.” The teacher then will describe the different activities students will participate in for the day, “ Today
you will get to spend some time in centers, you will do… (The teacher may include simple centers like blocks or kitchen
areas or they may keep it connected with the theme like an alphabet puzzle or a letter sound recognition game.) on the
carpet we will discover some letters. You will flip over a plate one at a time. When you flip them over you will see that
there is a letter on each of them. Some are lowercase and some are capital, when you flip them over you will work to
match the lowercase letter to the capital one. The teacher will then show an example, “ See I flipped over the capital A,
now I will look for the lowercase a…. Look, I found it! Now you will place both of these plates on the chair and you will
do this for all the letters in the alphabet.” Students will then begin to work as a group of 4 for 15 minutes to find all the
letters. They will then take a break and complete the rest of the daily schedule and come back to do another set of
centers and work on the activity again for another 15 minutes.
Day 2:
Once again during the first circle the teacher will introduce what the theme of the week is. Maybe this time the teacher
will ask the students if they remember what we are talking about this week. After getting the correct theme the teacher
will discuss with the students the center choice options again. The teacher may include simple centers like blocks or
kitchen areas or they may keep it connected with the theme like an alphabet puzzle or a letter sound recognition game.
Now the teacher will reintroduce the letter plate memory game but this time they will include an explanation of how
they will be using the TRACE LETTERS AND SIGHT WORDS APP on the IPAD. “ On the carpet you will be finding capital
and lowercase letter pairs again but this time after you find them noth instead of just placing the letter on the table you
will also grab the Ipad find the letter and trace it on the IPAD too. So you will need to find this letter 3 different times!”.
Teacher will pull out the ipads and monitor kids as they complete each letter. Again Students work in a group of 4 for 15
minutes to find all the letters. They will then take a break and complete the rest of the daily schedule and come back to
do another set of centers and work on the activity again for another 15 minutes.

SInce my age group is very young and unable to really navigate technology I have chosen a website for parents. This
website not only provides explanations for many different needed learning strands for students, it advocates for better
quality of education and the opportunities for students in America; providing information and resources for parents.
Differentiated Instructional Support: Describe how instruction can be differentiated (changed or altered) to meet the
needs of gifted or accelerated students:
Students may also use THE ABC Kids- Tracing and phonic app and instead of just tracing letter students may work to
recognize what letter each word/picture begins with. Practice recognizing beginning letter sounds.
Discuss additional activities you could do to meet the needs of students who might be struggling with the material:
Allow students to use their fingers, do some hand over hand work with students, allow students to just match capital
and lowercase letters on the ipad on the same app instead of tracing the letters too. For students who are struggling to
mact capital to lowercase have them only match one, find both lowercase letters or capital letters on the ABC Kids-
Tracing and phonic app.
