T : “Can you give me one example of juice which you know?”
S: Mango, orange, apple, and grape ma’am
T : okay, good. And what else ema?
Ema: Avocado ma’am.
T: Yes, it’s right.
“okay, now I want ask you about this picture”
“Do you know this picture, what is this?”

S: Orange ma’am.
T: Yes, right. And “Do you like orange juice?”

Procedural text is designed to describe how something is achieved through a sequence of
actions or steps. It explains how the people perform different processes in a sequence steps.
This text uses the simple present tense and it also usually uses the temporal conjunctions,
such as first, second, then, next, etc.
The structures of a procedural text consist of:
• Aim / goal (or title)
• Materials, equipments and
• Steps
(Teacher give explanation about example)

Example:
Look at the pictures, read the texts and then answer the question based on the text.

Materials and equipments:

A digital camera

An object (a friend/classmate or something interesting you can find around the environment
or classroom)e

Steps: Follow the steps to take pictures:


First, Hold up the camera and centre the object in the LCD
Second, Move closer or use the zoom control for the result you want
Third, When you’re ready to take the picture, hold the shutter halfway. It is very important, so
the camera sets the focus, shutter speed, and various other calculations. This may take a few
seconds.
Fourth, A light should appear that lets you know the camera is set to go.
Fifth, Press shutter all the way down.
It may be necessary to turn off the LCD and use the view finder when there is extreme sunlight or
to converse battery life. The glare from the LCD does not work well with bright light.

First : Weigh the exact amount of rice that will be poured. It should not be more than 4

steam time.

Fourth : Plug in the cable into the electricity socket and push the cooking button. A light red
will turn on.

1 white sweet onion Hand blender,

2 medium shallots Food mill, or regular blender

1 very large parsnip or 2 smaller parsnips


(about 1 pound total)

2 tablespoons uncooked white rice

1/2 cup cream (or skip for a vegan recipe; it


will still be good)

1+ cups chopped mushrooms (the good


kind, ideally: shiitake or trumpet or elephant
ear, rather than button)

Steps:

First, Chop the onion and shallots and saute them in a little olive oil. Peel the parsnip, and
chop it also. Anything from 1/4" to 1" cubes is fine, but the smaller you chop, the faster the
soup will cook.

Second, Add the parsnip to the onions; saute a few more minutes. Add water to cover the
vegetables by about half an inch. Add the rice. Bring the soup to a boil, and then lower the
heat to a simmer.

Third, Meanwhile, clean the mushrooms and slice them vertically. Saute them in a little olive
oil and cook until they soften, release their liquid, and begin to brown. Set aside.
Fourth, When the parsnips in the soup are soft, use a hand blender to puree the soup in the
pan. Stir in the cream. Taste, and add salt and/or water as-needed.

Fifth, Ladle into bowls, and add some mushrooms to each serving. Snip chives over the top
and serve
