your letter of recommendation?: I am bilingual, speaking and writing both English and Spanish
fluently. I am very well versed in google suite and computers. I have persevere through so much
and have continued to hold my head high. Being queer, while Windsor is a very accepting
community, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t have prejudice. I have battled internalized homophobia
and transphobia my whole life, but I am determined to change and create a safe community for
queer students such as myself.
9) Unusual or special personal/family circumstances that you feel have impacted your high
school career: As a Spanish-speaking household, it has been difficult having to figure out most
things by myself, as well as having to translate for my parents.
10) Challenges, frustrations, or hardships you encountered and how you overcame them: As
mentioned above, internalized homophobia and transphobia were something I have struggled
with. It was hard for me to come to terms with the fact that I am not straight or cisgender. That I
am part of the trans community and the gay community. I overcame this by surrounding myself
with other queer kids and learning that this is ok, that it is ok to be true to yourself. It also helped
that I left certain toxic communities that are transphobic and homophobic. I struggled with
trichotillomania since 8th grade. I would yank the hair out of my head, and then, later on, it
became so severe that I began to consume it as well. I was also struggling with an eating disorder
at the time, so all of these compiled into a huge mess that continued to bother me throughout 9th
grade. It took me confessing to a doctor and my therapist on what was happening to finally get
treated. I got the surgery done to remove the mass in my stomach and began to focus on how to
not pull hair in therapy. I am now much more healthy and can divert my full attention to school.
