ACTIVITY NO.
HAIR ANALYSIS
I – OBJECTIVES:
To perform hair analysis and analyzed in order to figure out things about
the person and where it came from.
II – BACKGROUND
In hair analysis, it requires more hair that is available for analysis the more hair
the better. For better result, it requires 50 strands of hair. Same with the fiber
mostly hair sample alone is not enough to solve the case it only gives a lead in the
investigation. Hair analysis can determine specific race or origin so it could
develop an idea to the investigator about the basic features of the suspect.
III - MATERIALS

2. From your observations what’s the difference between human hair and animal
hair.
The difference between animal hair and human hair is that the medulla in human
hair is smaller or thin, while the medulla in animals is thick. Also, the cuticle in
humans is overlapping and the cuticle in animals is coronal or spinous.
Pigmentation in animal hair is denser than a human hair. Animal hair can change
colors in striped patterns but human hair cannot. For the appearance the
difference between them is the thickness of hair, the dog hair is thick and hard,
while in human I noticed that it is thin. While the color is that the human hair is so
dark black or for me and for the animal is slightly black.
