Critical Reflection
Sitting down and drafting a resume has never been an easy task for me. I have always looked at
the task as very daunting.
As I wrote my resume for the umpteenth time this month, it was encouraging to see how much
educational and training experiences I have achieved within the past year. If I had not set out to
write this resume as a requirement for my Human Resources Management course, I would not
have appreciated how far I have come with my education and experience. This exercise made me
retrospect into my career. Interestingly, the exercise brought out my vast experience while
working over a ten-year period that has taken me from being a teacher, a Journalist, and a
manager in addition to other skilled occupations.
Writing this resume illuminated a success that has evaded me over time. I felt very proud of my
self as I indicated on the resume that I will be graduating in Winter, 2019. Graduating with an

MBA has eluded me for a long time due to financial issues, but I cannot thank my lucky stars
enough for stumbling on to the University of the People where I will be finally able to complete
my master’s degree.
Overall, there are no gaps that I feel necessitated to fill before the completion of my program.
This Portfolio Activity was very helpful to me because it helped me encounter resources for
resume writing and practice how to professionally put a resume together including a cover letter.
