You are going to write the ancients story of the world: the legend of Gilgamesh

1. Use a piece of paper and fold it like the picture. Add the pieces needed to finish the
story.

2. You can use a roller paper with two sticks where rolling it.

Gilgamesh es el rey de la ciudad de Uruk, en Mesopotamia. Es en dos terceras partes humano
y en una tercera parte de naturaleza divina, puesto que su padre, el dios Lugalbanda, lo había
engendrado con una mujer mortal.

Su carácter es caprichoso y violento y no guarda respeto por nada. Los sacerdotes suplican un
castigo y los dioses envían a un personaje de enorme fuerza llamado Enkidu, un hombre
salvaje que pasta con las gacelas, para que lo derrote.

Los acontecimientos enfrentan al joven Gilgamesh cara a cara con la muerte, lo que provoca
en él una profunda reacción. Desde entonces se propone alcanzar el secreto de la
inmortalidad e inicia un largo viaje en busca de Ziusudra, el superviviente del diluvio, el
único hombre inmortal.
STORY
You will create the story of this King by following this steps:

1. COVER

In the cover you must write the name of Gilgamesh in english and in cuneiform letters. You must add you
name too.

2. MAP

Draw a map fo the Mesopotamian territory including the rivers and the city of URUK.

3. Who was GILGAMESH?

Search information about who was Gilgamesh and put/draw a portrait of him.

4. A ZIGURAT

Start the story recreating the city of URUK. (Draw or put a picture of a zigurat and its parts.)

5. THE WEDDING

Gilgamesh, was set to marry an equal woman in rank named Ishtar. (Write information about Ishtar and
her powers.)

6. A BAD GOVERNATOR

Gilgamesh had everything and necome to be a selfish King. People claimed justice to gods that sent to
Enkidu, a wild beast to go to Uruk and free its people from the King. (Draw a social pyramid of
Mesopotamia: upper class- lower class-slaves)

7. BEST FRIENDS

Gilgamesh and Enkidu first fight each other but then become close friends. They shake hands and decide to
defeat Humbaba the monstrous god of storm and forests.

8. THE KILL OF ENKIDU

The two kill Humbaba but Ishtar, who was jealous, sends someone to kill Enkidu.
9. THE INMORTALITY

Gilgamesh, feeling sad about Enkidu’s death, goes on a long and distant journey to find the secret of eternal life from a man named Utnapishtim.

10. THE CHALLENGE

Utnapishtim challenges Gilgamesh to stay awake for 7 days and then he can tell him the secrets.

11. ETHERNAL YOUTH

Gilgamesh fails that test but nevertheless Utnapishtim introduces Gilgamesh to a plant that can restore youth.

12. THE SNAKE

Gilgamesh happily takes the plant for bring to his people in Uruk but the plant gets stolen by a snake along the way.

13. THE RETURN

Disappointed and tired, Gilgamesh goes back to Uruk empty handed but wiser and and with more peace and experience and became a wise king.
