Calculation of Horizontal Load

Deflection of free head pile due to lateral load is given by,

Q ( L1 + LF ) 3
Y =
3 EI

2
where, Y = Deflection in 'mm' = 5 mm E = Modulus of elasticity in 'N/mm '
Q = Working lateral load in 'N' = 32000 N/mm2
4
L1 = Free length of pile 'mm' I = Moment of inertia 'mm '
4
LF = Fixity length of pile 'mm' = π x 500 / 64
= 3300 mm = 3067961576 mm4

Q( 0 + 3300 )3
5 =
3 x 32000 x 3067961576

Q = 40977.866 N
= 41.0 KN
