What heat process is taking place in the experiment?

ANS: Convection.

What happened to the quarter when you pour hot water into the bowl?

ANS: The coin was being pushed up by the heated air inside the bottle.

Describe how convection current form.

ANS: Convection currents occur when warm air rises while cold air sinks, it then becomes a cycle when
the warm air cools down and cold air heats up.

What will happen to the convection currents in the mantle if Earth’s interior eventually cols down?
Explain.

ANS: The cool air that sinks will no longer be naturally heated up by the Earth’s surface. The warm air
that has risen will be cooled down but will be unable to cycle with the lack of heated cool air, lowering
the temperature everywhere.
