REFLECTIVE ANALYSIS ON WEBINAR ENTITLED
"DIFFERENT TEACHING MODALITY "
I. Introduction
This webinar entitled "Different Teaching Modality" was conducted by the Institute of Global
Professionals. It was conducted on the 30th day of October 2021 via zoom and Facebook live. In this
webinar they have discussed the different modalities in teaching. Learning modalities are methods we
use to learn using our senses. In education, the four learning modalities are visual, auditory, kinesthetic,
and tactile. ... Teachers can support all types of learners by differentiating instruction, providing chances
for students to see, hear, experience, and touch as they learn.
II. Salient Points
Teaching Modalities and Strategies
Visual strategies
color colding notes, handouts, or textbooksrewriting notes to better organize themkeeping course
materials sorted in a file foldermaking illustrations, drawings, or concept maps as you study or plan
projects or paperswatching documentary films or instructional videosfinding photos or other images
related to what you are learningvisual notetaking
Auditory strategies
recording lectures or discussions and listening back to them laterasking questions and discussing course
content or ideas creating acrostic or mnemonic jingles to remember facts, lines, or other
informationdictating the first draft of a paper to a recording device (like a smart phone app)participating
in a study groupteaching or explaining what you are learning to a study partner or friend
. Reading/Writing strategies
taking notesreading course content and re-writing it in your own wordstranslating notes into different
active study strategies, for example taking visual information from charts and graphs and describing
them in writingreading over and summarizing handouts or information posted on class web
pageswriting out questions and answers as you read
Kinesthetic strategies
experimenting with physical materials such as in a maker spacewatching physical demonstrations of
processes or ideasrole-playingacting out skits that dramatize course contentusing props to solve
problemsthinking up real-life examples to illustrate ideas or conceptsimagining ways that course content
has real-life applicationstaking short study breakslistening to recordings of course content or
educational materials while you walk or work out
III. Reflection
From this webinar I have learned that it important to learn the learning styles of our students
because every learners has preferred own of learning. Some learn best by listening, some have to
observe every step, while others have to do it to learn it. We have Kinesthetic Learner who learns best
by doing “hands-on”. We have auditory learner who learns best by hearing. And also we have visual
learner who learns best by seeing. As teacher it is important to remember that everyone learns
differently. That is why we should examine our students in what area they learn best. We should
planned our instructions as well as the teaching strategies that will match with their learning style in
order to provide them the best teaching learning experiences. As teacher we should apply multiple
modalities in teaching we may use visuals, music, objects, experiences, collaborative work, poetry,
writing, and/or other modes to teach content. As teacher we should maximize multiple modalitiesin our
instructional practice to improve student engagement. By providing diverse presentations, and
experiences of the content so that students use different senses and different skills during the lesson.
Therefore, instructional practice used to improve student engagement. It involves providing diverse
presentations, and experiences of the content so that students use different senses and different skills
during a single lesson. Therefore, multiple modalities addresses different learning styles.
IV. Implications
This webinar on "Different Teaching Modality" is an important platforms of Institute of Global
Professionals to enhance the knowledge and skills of every educator on the teaching modalities. This
an avenue to inform us the importance and value of knowing different teaching modalities. For me as
Pre-service teacher the significant of this webinar is not about knowing the different teaching
modalities and learning styles of the students but thinking on how we will plan and create teaching
strategies to our auditory, visual, kinesthetic learners. This webinar also impart us knowledge about
some strategies and techniques we can use in our instructions to cater students who has different
learning style.
