Reaction Paper

One Earth is a short film of Roman Pennes to help raise awareness


about us humans and featuring the human activities that strongly impact our
environment that results to climate change and global warming.
I can connect or reflect this short film from our lesson that we've
already tackled which is the consumption and Production Patterns Affecting
climate change. The short film gives us a real eye-opener on how we globally
use resources for a short term profit by deforestation, mining, burning fossil
fuels, consuming and expanding. Consumption leads to the direct creation of
environment pressures from the use of products and services for example in
the film which shows lots of driving cars in the road and smoke from
factories while the indirect pressures that are created along the production
chains of the goods and services consumed like food, clothing and electricity.
Both direct and indirect consumption greatly affects the environment in a bad
way. A major reason why consumption negatively affects the environment
and causes an over-use of resources is because the costs to society of the
environmental and resource degradation are not fully reflected in the prices of
goods and services. Also, those environmental problems that humans have
created can impact me, the community and to the future generations. As a
teenage girl it can affect my health badly, especially that I have a mild asthma
that’s really sensitive to air pollution. It can also affect the community in a
way of resources or sustainability and lastly the one who will really suffered
from all this problems are the future generations, were resources are limited
and there health is at risk. I'm really sad knowing that humans are the main
villains who destroys the environment but little did they know that humans
are the ones who will suffer a lot, in short humans are committing suicide but
in every situations there’s always a hope, chance and solutions. We can solve
this issues by simply change the way we consume the resources. By
practicing reduce, reuse, recycle, save electricity, save water and if it’s
possible to just walk or ride a bicycle going to your destination just do it.
I conclude that the environment is an important issue even society is
faced by a crisis because earth is the only home that humans have, and
provides air, foods and other needs. We are part of the environment as it
reacts to us as much as we react to it. So, we need to save the earth in
order for us to continue living here.
