In this second tutorial assignment, you have to choose one area of gender issues (either
gender in education, or in the workplace, or in the society), do a mini research about that: the
concept, the existence in daily life (for example, the existence of gender stereotyping in text
book), and write a short essay on the topic. The essay must be 250-350 words in length,
typed, 12 points Times New Roman, and 1.5 spaced.

Gender Issues in the Society

Gender issues include all aspects and concerns related to women's and men's lives and

situation in society, to the way they interrelate, their differences in access to and use of
resources, their activities, and how they react to changes, interventions and policies.

Gender in the Society means how we're expected to act, speak, dress, groom, and conduct
ourselves based upon our assigned sex. For example, girls and women are generally expected
to dress in typically feminine ways and be polite, accommodating, and nurturing. Men are
generally expected to be strong, aggressive and bold.

Gender issues and the existence of gender stereotyping are still exist in our society,it makes
there are still many people who do not feel comfortable with their environment so that it is
difficult to be able to express themselves. Incidents like this I encounter often and do not
need to take the example too far, I will use myself as the person who feels the impact of this.
Come to think of it, the stereotype of people towards men who have to be tough and tough
can't be seen from me. Sometimes back in school I didn't really have many male friends,
because I felt a little different from boys in general, so sometimes it made me feel more
comfortable alone or friends with girls. As for gender differences in social, I also feel it,
where I am a guy who just happens to dislike football and people around me know that I like
kpop. This is what people always think if guys like kpop are like girls, but in reality it's not
like that. They always think that guys have to be good at playing soccer, even though there
are so many activities they can do. For sports I prefer to swim, therefore I am not really into
soccer, not like guys in general. Sometimes I think stereotypes and other gender issues can
hinder someone from developing themselves, this is what I always feel if I want to do
something that suits myself. Sometimes even from the family environment, so the difference
was felt and had a direct impact on me. Again, not everyone can understand gender issues,
because of the stereotypes that have been embedded in their minds

Thank You.
