MY CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN
CAMLON F. KHAJAR,T-I
GURO 21 COURSE 1 LEARNER
PHILOSPHICAL STATEMENT
I firmly believe that a teacher is the one who sets an atmosphere in the classroom. One cannot teach effectively without
touching the heart and soul of his/her students. You must show them your love and concern so that they you will see a
carefree and happy student while learning. A classroom should be a happy and interactive community where there is
healthy competition and there is cooperation and collaboration.
Learning by doing is very effective. It means learning will really take place if students will be
given a chance to not only see the process but undergo a process where they are part of it.
Also, as a teacher, I am responsible for instilling in them the right attitudes and values to
succeed in life. Students should acquire such ideal values and attitudes to enable lifelong learning.
CLASSROOM ARRANGEMENT
I will organize seating arrangements in such a way that students can have easy and comfortable movement. In the new normal if ever there is a limited face-to-
face class, I would arrange 25 chairs inside where I would propose a set A, Set B class. One group(Set A) would report on Monday and Wednesday, another
group(Set B) would report on Tuesday and Thursday. In that case, I could cater to at least 45 students in my class for the whole school year. I would also place a
sofa and mini bookshelf at the back where they could have a min I library and a resting place during recess period or vacant period. I would also place wash area
where they are free to disinfect before and after recess or during lunch break. The Smart TV would be placed on top of the chalkboard so that every time there is
a video presentation or every class period I would not depend on chalk and talk alone but also with the use of Smart TV, laptop and speaker, my students would
become interested with the class. There is also an entrance and exit door for my students to have an easy entrance and exit so they would not flock on the door
especially during an earthquake.
My classroom should be properly illuminated and well-ventilated for my students to be comfortable inside. I would also place my personal working table at the
back of the class with a cubicle so that during the counseling of my students in case of misbehavior there is privacy and confidentiality.
RULES AND PROCEDURE
At the beginning of the school year, the house rules should be clear and concise. It must be posted at an
eye level on the corner of the classroom visible to everyone.
As the students enter my classroom, they are already tasked with routinary activities like cleaning the
surroundings, dusting the blackboard, and arranging of chairs.
The class begins with a prayer, springboard activities, and other motivational games to elicit students' active response and participation. At
the class proper, I employ questions that would encourage everybody’s participation Then during the activities, I make sure that I group
them according to their learning styles(Each learner is already identified at the start of the school year-Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, Tactile,
Olfactory) or according to their multiple intelligences. During the activities, I tour around the class to monitor each group and give technical
assistance if needed. Each student is encouraged to freely recite or perform in the class. Bullying is strictly prohibited. All of them are well-
oriented that mistakes are okay and an avenue for improvement.
Excellent jobs and participation are rewarded every quarter in a form of a certificate. Names are posted on one corner of the room as
Meritorious Award(Most Active, Leader of the Month, Performer of the month, etc.)
They should see me as a mother and as a friend. They are free to open any personal problem as or any problem related at home so I could
understand and if ever I could extend any help to any of them. They should also be oriented with the idea that I am firm but kind.
MISBEHAVIOR INTERVENTIONS
As a teacher, misbehaviors in the class is normal. In catering diverse learners, they have diverse
family background, culture and environment. If ever there are misbehaviors that would arise, I would
call the students privately, learn the root cause, and examine the student’s family background .I
would talk to them privately and let them sign an agreement not to do it again or else, there will be
corresponding punishment next time.
If ever there is recurrence of misbehavior, call parent’s attention and ask for their cooperation. I
would also do a home visitation if necessary. Most of the time when I do the home visitation, I learn
about their home set up, the kind of upbringing, and even why the students misbehave that way. It is
one of the most effective one because it helps me how to attack/ approach the student’s
misbehavior. Finally, I would let the students and parents sign in an agreement not to repeat
misbehavior in the future.
I believe that any misbehavior from my student has a root cause. That is why I have all the
responsibilty to dig in the problem before judging or reprimanding them.
CLASSROOM SAFETY
As a teacher, I am the manager in the classroom. It is my great responsibility
to establish a classroom where my students are safe and protected from any harm.
If possible, no harmful objects around(protruding nails, sharp materials, damaged chairs, etc.) I would
always update building inspection to the DRRMC in case there are cracks on the walls. Also, I would regularly
check any damaged electrical wirings inside the classroom. And if there is any, I would ask school
maintenance to replace faulty wirings if necessary. I would also make sure that there is proper illumination
and ventilation in the classroom so that my students could stay comfortable everyday. I would also check
any damaged windows or door panels regularly. These things are very essential for my students to be safe
from any harm.
STUDENTS SAFETY
As a teacher, my students are my biggest accountability in the classroom.
With these, I would ensure that my students are safe from any harm. I would
require social distancing in seating arrangement to avoid infection(e.g. COVID-19). There should be 2 doors for entrance end exit to avoid stampede
or bumping each other every recess period or dismissal or even during earthquake. There is a sofa for them to take rest whenever they want to relax
or if in case there is an emergency in case one of my students faint, or break down. I would also propose on the
construction of CR in the classroom especially if my classroom is situated in the four- storey building where there is only one CR for boys ad one for
girls.
STUDENTS CELEBRATION
The best reinforcement comes with a reward. When my students manifest achievements either in academic
or behavior, I see to it that they are well-recognized. During quarterly awarding/ convocation I would hold a
program where I would recognize them and give them certificates and rewards/ simple tokens like school
supplies, chocolates, etc. Their names will also be posted on the wall as ACHIEVERS of the MONTH/QUARTER.
This is to amplify that good works are emphasized and worthy of emulation.
Through these strategies, I am assured that others would also be motivated to perform better and target
achievement since they have witnessed others' happiness upon convocation/ recognition.
Reflection
As I make my classroom management plan, I find it
hard to craft my setup on how I would be able to
create a classroom where students can learn and
enjoy the class despite social distancing. With the size
of the classroom, I don’t think it is still applicable in
our new normal setting. As an adviser, my main
agenda is to keep my students free from any
infections and ensure that everyone is alive at the end
of the school year. I could no longer use a grouping of
at least 6 people since it makes a crowd. I think I could
make activities where groupings is just a maximum of
three students so that they could enjoy the learning
set up and still be able to be assured of their safety.
My classroom is situated at the 4-story building where
there is only one CR for these 5 classrooms for girls
and for boys. I plan to propose a solo CR in my
classroom when the face-to-face class starts. I plan
too, that I would propose 25 students in Set A and Set
B. Like for example, on Monday, Wednesday, Set A
students will report. On Tuesday and Thursday, Set B
students will be going to class. By Friday, it would be
an online class where we could have remote
cooperative learning. Truly, to cater to the learning of
students in this situation is very hard. There are many
things to consider. I do hope and pray that maybe
next year, this pandemic will be gone so we could go
back to normal.
