Rhino Commands

The document outlines various commands and techniques for 3D modeling, including operations like splitting faces, extruding curves, and creating arrays. It also covers transformations such as bending, twisting, and tapering, as well as free form transformations like cage editing. Additionally, it discusses mesh manipulation, surface creation, and visualization techniques for enhancing 3D designs.

command shift left click: choose an edge, point or face

split face: split face into parts

box, diagonal, cube: makes perfect cube

shell, thickness: remove material from interior

cplane, object: draw in right orientation

solid points on: see all points

extrude curve: extrude

sweep1: make a caterpillar with 2 curves

rebuild: are control points

sweep2: with 2 arrays

clipping plane: cut the model

ip: ip direction of clipping plane

rail revolve: with the star

revolve: revolve shape

loft: the lines that make a curvy plane

planar srf: colour in surface

patch: colour in when doing something wrong

srfpoint:

————————————————————————————————————————-

array box: to make an array

array polar: pick object, create a line, pick axis, select starting and ending point

1)make a curve

2) make a plane

3) rebuild, to add more control points (topography in 3D)

array curve: along a curve

array surface: along the curved surface (3D topo)

TRANSFORMATIONS (always consider rigid or not) :

bend: choose straight line spine, then bend (the closer to the 0,0 the less
the whole body changes)

twist: select whole tower, choose spine, choose an angle

taper: nd start point of the axis, the choose taper

FREE FORM TRANSFORMATION

cage edit: bounding box, use world coordinate system, enter

(you will have many control points that you can transform)

cage edit: line

cage edit: rectangle

fi

create UV curve: the rectangle that

is the 2D version of 3D shape

ow along surface: the boxes

drawn on2D to 3D (click on corner
of the plane, then corner of the 3D
object)

interpcrvsrf: a curve exactly on the surface (then delete the curve)

explode: have a surfaces on solid be di erent

rebuild: have more control points to manipulate the shape

mesh box: a box with a lot of a lot of control points

subDbox: get a box

sellmesh: removes the mesh from the shape, must hold control when moving

fl
ff
mesh to nurb: create an open poly surface

meshplane: draw a rectangle that will have a mesh plane (can control how many faces)

mesh sphere: makes a sphere

delete surface from subdbox:

o setsubD: select the object and then you can give it a thickness

ff
remove crease: makes it smooth edge

crease: makes edge sharp

subdivide: hold command shift, and click a surface. this will give me more faces

bridge: connect two sets of faces (make sure you click on the object join)

select faces to make a loop and make it smaller or bigger

stich: join two edges together

shift, click the box with a cross THEN control while selecting faces: can scale while creating new
faces

select all edges you want to be planer, click on box with cross

inset: select any face and draw a new edge

re ect: select a subDshape

FN8 = ortho

clipping plane: command to see into section of the object

dub edge: select all the edges of my shape

change shadow= right click perspective, display options, scroll down to lighting method, choose
one

change direction of shadow: go into scene lighting, click rendering in the the panal, scroll down,
turn on sun, sun settings

named view: save all my views

layout: set the layout of eveything

patch: surface connect topo lines but bad

divide: a list of points on any curve

loft: a shitty way of joining topo

contour : see each topo line

from a picture, you create a surface

subdivide: divde a square into smaller squares

move: vertical, only moves vertically

project: 1, select curves I want, onto the plane I want

orient on curve: orient perpendicular to curve

make 2D: makes me drawing into 2D
