b. Differentiate demonstrative and relative; and

C. Motivation
Let us have an activity first before we
proceed to our next lesson. Form two
groups. All you have to do is to guess what
kind of pronoun is being flashed on the
screen. The group who will get more correct
answers wins.

What you did has something to do with our
discussion today which is pronoun.
D. Lesson Proper
What have you noticed from the activity?
I noticed that you used the word “that”,
“which”, “this”, “who”, and many more.
Good.
Alright. From our previous lesson, we
discussed pronoun. And we gave 3 kinds.
The subjective, possessive, and objective.
Now, give me another kind of pronoun.
Ma’am, we have demonstrative pronoun.
Correct. Demonstrative pronoun points out
a noun. Pronouns under this are “that”,
“this”, “those”, and “these”.
Example:
These are papers needed by the teacher.
The pronoun these here was in plural form.
Another example,
That book gives us enough information.
The pronoun that was in singular form.
Can you give me another example?
That bag is mine.
Very good. Any other?

Another kind of pronoun is?
Interrogative pronoun.
Would you tell us what is an Interrogative
pronoun?

It is used in questioning. It also helps to ask
something.
Very good. Can you give us pronouns under
interrogative?
Ma’am, we have what, which, where, who,
whom. As well as, compound words such as
whatever, whichever, whoever, and
whomever.
Alright.
Here’s an example:
Who brought the book inside the room?
Which snack do you want? Sandwich or
pasta?
What brings you here?
Can you give me another example?

Good! Next kind of pronoun? We have?
Ma’am, we have indefinite pronoun.
Correct. Indefinite pronoun refers indefinite
or general person or thing.
What are the pronouns under indefinite?
We have many, few, either, neither, some,
several, any, each, both, everyone, nothing,
and none.
Okay. Can you give me examples of
sentences using indefinite pronouns?
Many of them failed in the examination.
Another?
Both students competed in the said pageant.
Another example:
Somebody might help her in finishing the
task.
Some of the things were thrown away.
Few of the students passed their homework.
Any other?

And lastly, we have?
We have relative pronoun.
Good. And relative pronouns introduce
clause that describes the noun.
Under this we have that, which, who, and
whom.
Example:
J.K. Rowling wrote series of books

readers.
Pedro described the thing that
caught his attention.
Give me another example.
He dedicated his song to his mother
whom he loves the most.
She wrote a poem about certain
person that inspires her.
Very good!
Are we clear with these kinds of pronouns?
Yes, ma’am.
IV. GENERALIZATION

Do you think learning these kinds of
pronouns is necessary in constructing
grammatically correct sentences?
Yes, ma’am.
Why?
Because we use them in describing noun.
What else?
It also helps us in asking questions.
And to build more meaningful sentences, as
well.
V. APPLICATION
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY
For your activity, think of a certain person,
thing, animal, etc. Write a short description
with regards to your subject. Your
description must contain pronouns
(demonstrative, interrogative, indefinite,
relative). You will be given 10 minutes to
finish your work.
