Grace Kelly was born in November 1929 in Philadelphia. She was an outstanding American actress who
became a starring in several films and later became the Princess of Monaco after marrying Prince Rainier
III in the mid-1950s. Examples of movies that earned her credits include The Rear Window and The
Country Girl. Grace Kelly started acting from the time she was still a child. She graduated in 1949 from
the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and began her career as an actress in New York City theatrical
productions. In 1956, Grace Kelly left her acting career, married Prince Rainier, and began her princess
duties in Monaco.
Why did Grace Kelly Marry Prince Rainier?
Grace Kelly was not an all-time single lady when they first met with Prince Rainier. Her first boyfriend
was Oleg Cassini, a fashion designer whom Kelly dumped to get a chance to marry Prince Rainier. This
sounds to have been a harsh decision ever made in a relationship that had lasted a bit longer. Still, history
indicates that they were not marrying each other because of Grace Kelly's family disapproval. As Cassini
was interviewed, he stated that "Neither of her parents liked me." Grace Kelly and Cassini were about to
get married when Kelly got sick and was nursed at home. After returning to health, Cassini indicated that
he never met her until he received her call to inform him that she was engaged to Prince Rainier. It is
therefore believed that Kelly married Prince Kelly to gain her parent's approval.
How did Grace Kelly meet Prince Rainier?

There was a planned day in which Kelly would meet Prince Rainier for the first time, but that did not
happen of unfortunate wrong turns. It began in the morning when she woke up to no electricity in the city
due to the laborers' strike. She used other alternatives for her make-up, went into her car, and started
driving towards the meeting place. On her way, she got involved in an accident when she collided with
another one following her from behind. This failed her mission to meet Prince Rainier for the first time.
They later met when Prince Rainier invited her for a walk into his private zoo in the palace. That's where
their story began.

As indicated above, Grace Kelly dumped her longtime boyfriend to get a chance to marry Prince Reinier.
According to Once Upon a Time: Behind the Fairy Tale of Princess by J Randy Taraborrelli, Kelly
dumped him because her parents never liked him. This means that Kelly married Prince Kelly to please
her parents but not out of real love. In the same book, Kelly was quoted saying: "Do you realize if my
mother hadn't been so difficult about Oleg Cassini, I probably would have married him?" It is also
indicated that Kelly she confessed marrying Prince Rainier changed her entire life. She states in a
regretful tone that "How many wonderful roles I might have played by now?" This shows that Grace
Kelly loved her former boyfriend, Oleg Cassini.
Did Grace Kelly's husband marry again?
Prince Rainier never married another woman after the death of her wife Kelly in 1982. It is stated that
Grace Kelly's husband said he was "probably the last head of state to be able to recognize all his
compatriots in the street." Even though it is stated that Prince Rainier proposed to Marilyn Monroe before
pursuing Kelly, he never went back to her after the death of his wife.
