DREAM COMMUNITY REFLECTION QUESTIONS

1. What are the current challenges/hindrances to the realization of this

"dream community"?

 Age differences and generation gaps: First and foremost, age has a
significant effect in the unification of one community as it induces
segregation between individuals on different generation/s making the older
generation to feel more superior than those of the young generation today.
One clear example in the Filipino context of culture of the elderly is them
being “wiser” in terms of knowledge and in-depth prospect of things as
they have lived and experience more in their lifespan, making them have
the tendency to belittle efforts and such knowledge by the young to aspire
and induce greater things than the ideas and perspective of the elderly.

 Technology. As we have seen and observed in the last decade,

technology significantly affected our traditional ways of doing ordinary
things, most especially in the aspect of communication; but at the same
time, it has implemented and induced distance not only with our family
members, but to those who cannot catch up, especially the elderly to the
young ones, with the high influx of technology that we have today.

 Different and varying personal perceptions and beliefs: With us being

a religious-centered country, the Filipino people commonly have their
unbreakable religious beliefs and such superstitions which can either
implicate positive or negative effects to the usual and common things that
are usually done.

 Social status in the society: Having a dream community means being

unified no matter what standing an individual or a family has among the
society, but there are some scenarios that social profiling or stereotyping
based on looks may affect the unity among the community, leading to a
judgemental

The pandemic:

2. What must you do to lessen if not remove those hindrances and what is the
role of your faith in all of these?
3. How is your dream community similar (or different)  to the Church's dream
community? (Read the lesson: "The Church's Dream Community" for your
