PROJECT PROPOSAL FOR INTRAMURAL
Project title: INTRAMURALS
Prepared for: ALL STUDENTS IN PAJO NATIONAL HIGHSCHOOL
Prepared by: DEGAMO, WARLIE MILAR
PINO, EMILY IGOT
Rationale:
Intramurals are an opportunity for students to compete against their classmates in
various sports. It is open to all students. The purpose of the intramural program is to provide
fun, safe and structured play experiences that promote the physical, mental and social
development of every child. Our aim is to provide opportunities for every individual, regardless
of ability, to participate in a sport activity that will develop skill and interest in a friendly,
recreation-centered environment. All intramural programs are subject to change without notice
due to student and advisors availability.
Background:
Intramurals contribute to the goals of the government of Ontario’s Foundations for a
Healthy School resource (which aligns with the K-12 School Effectiveness Framework) by
fostering school spirit and a sense of belonging for all students. They are a great way to increase
student engagement by providing students with opportunities to interact socially with their peers,
which fosters a sense of belonging, positive mental health, and greater engagement in both
academic and non-academic activities. Participation in intramurals helps students further develop
their social skills, co-operation, teamwork, physical literacy, and overall health. Intramurals
involve students in school decision making processes and encourage them to be school leaders
who share the responsibility of planning, organizing, and implementing physical activity
opportunities for others.3 Most importantly, intramurals provide much-needed opportunities for
students who do not have the opportunity to participate in organized sport or physical activities
within the school or community or fee-for-service activities in the community.
Objectives:
● To provide opportunities for individual development through various activities, increase
social contacts, growth of lasting friendships and recreation for individuals, regardless of
their skill ability.
● The program is designed in a manner that promotes safety, fairness, and equal
opportunity for all to participate.
● We are dedicated to participant satisfaction, while accommodating a wide range of
interests and skill levels.
