enhancements (with projects currently underway), rolling stock OEDS data studio train
modifications, maintenance review, mid-life-refurbishment, and failure investigations from
2010 to now.

I am also the “vibration analysis specialist” and was awarded HKIE Innovation of the Year
2014 for developing the compact vibration monitoring device with automatic analysis
software.

I studied Asset Management at MTR’s Wollongong course and achieved high distinctions in
all the topics of tendering, reliability statistics, asset life cycle costing etc.

My current projects include: “Mid Life Refurbishment of 69 Trains” (at final stage now),
“RFID Speed Monitoring Device for LRVs”, “Bearing Failure Investigation”, “Wheel Offloading
Tests”, including other reliability related work.

My duties are:-

1. Drive projects, team communication, and work list management.

2. Prepare Particular Specifications, Tender Documentation, EDOC, and Consultancy
Requisition for various C&R Work.
3. Budgeting for new and rebudgeted Works.
4. Chair project meetings for all Light Rail contractor jobs (e.g. UGL Limited).
5. Site visits to provide technical support to the Maintainer and Contractor.
6. Factory acceptance tests in Mainland China for safety glass certification.

Brief Description of Past Relevant Experience

I am a Mechatronics Engineer with broad experience in both mechanical and electrical

engineering. My project highlights include:-

 MAJOR PROJECT COMPLETED – Light Rail Mid Life Refurbishment which involved
whole outlook & interior design, structural reinforcement, contractor management,
programme control, and cost control. Elected Hero and LV award.
 MAJOR RELIABILITY PROJECT COMPLETED - New Traction Motors for M-Train Fleet
which involved preparing specification, managing China contractors, interfacing
workshop/depot, and conducting vibration tests on mainline with artificial full load.
Project received MTR Grand Award.
 MAJOR SAFETY ENHANCEMENT COMPLETED for the design of LRV Passenger Safety
Barriers (which reduces R2 risk to R3) and the ongoing trial of Driver Seats with
improved seatbelts.
 OVERSEAS SUPPORT COMPLETED– acted as fire consultant for Taiwan’s tilting train
design, investigator for traction bearing failure at Shen Zhen depot, and technical
support for Hang Zhou depot commissioning.
 MAJOR FAILURE INVESTIGATION COMPLETED - LRV Derailment Root Cause Analysis
which involved site study, bogie condition review, consultant management, and
report preparation. Achieved MTR Team Grand Award. My other investigations
include bearing failure, fire investigation, high tension cable failure etc.
 MAINTENANCE REVIEW of LRV wheel offloading and determination of airbag limits
through measurements and statistical analysis.
 ALTERNATIVE SOURCING of train windscreens which led to total redesign, supplier
sourcing/tendering, and elimination of windscreen blur/glare.
 REINFORCEMENT WORKS on bogies (MLR train) which involved re-welding, FEA
analysis, on-site support for cracks, quality control management, and extensive
vibration testing on mainline.

Additionally, my engineering experience extends to:-

HAESL - I was project leader for dozens of component repair and maintenance planning jobs
communicating with Rolls Royce and the workshop – such as shot peening, large scale
machining, brazing, metal spray, TIG welding, 3D modeling etc. for various civil aircraft
engines.

EMSD – I was involved with areas such as A/C systems, vehicles and transport, worker
safety, project management procedures etc.

耀生輝節能(深圳)有限公司– I was product designer and went from start to finish with
injection mould design, sheet metal progressive die design, 3D modelling, electro-
mechanical integration, assembly line supervisory/design, procurement evaluations etc.
Reason for Application

I aim to expand my contributions in MTR’s Reliability core business with the application of
my vibration monitoring technology to a wider scale in depots and overseas.

I am a native speaker in 3 languages (English, Cantonese, and Mandarin) and consider

supporting new businesses such as the Sydney Contract an opportunity for me to excel.

I can provide your RCM with modern software tools. During my studies in MTR’s Masters
Programme, I picked up knowledge in reliability limit determination, MonteCarlo prediction,
and 2-way anova analysis for detecting problem trends.

Being Fleet Performance Manager, I can fully utilize my project experiences as I have built up
strong relationships with various departments, I am very good at keeping track with multiple
projects, I know how to energize the team, I participate the hardest work, recognize other
people’s achievements, and listen to my stakeholders carefully.
