Engineering Data Analysis

This document discusses methods of data collection in engineering. It defines primary data as data collected directly from the source without going through existing sources. Primary data is often collected specifically for a research project and can be reliable and objective since it is gathered to address a particular problem, though it is costly to obtain. Examples of primary data include data collected from customers, users, or by government agencies and research institutions.

TYPES OF DATA

PRIMARY DATA

 is the kind of data that is collected directly from the data source without going through any
existing sources
 it is mostly collected especially for a research project and may be shared publicly to be used for
another research
 often reliable, authentic and objective in as much as it was collected with the purpose of
addressing a particular research problem
 it is noteworthy that primary data is not commonly collected because of the high cost of
implementation
 this data is collected directly from its original source which in most cases are the existing and
potential
