Pinoys' quality of life worsened – survey

MAJORITY of Filipinos admitted that their quality of life worsened in the past 12 months, Social Weather Stations (SWS) said in
its September 2021 survey results.

It said that 57 percent of those surveyed said that their life got worse (losers), while 13 percent of said that it got better (gainers),
resulting in a Net Gainer score of -44 percent.

However, 29 percent of the respondents said that their life was the same.

However, 29 percent of the respondents said that their life was the same.

"Gainers minus Losers worsens from very low -31 in Second Quarter 2021 to extremely low -44," said the pollster.

Compared to the same period last year, the Net Gainer Score for September 2021 has significantly increased from the catastrophic
level of -76.

The change in personal quality of life over the past 12 months has seen an improvement since November 2020 with -48 to June
2021 but slightly worsened in the third quarter.

Moreover, the SWS survey also revealed that "Net Gainers worsens in all areas, with catastrophic [level] in Metro Manila and
extremely low elsewhere."

The Net Gainers score in Metro Manila dropped by 21 points from -30 in June 2021 to -51 this September. In Mindanao, the Net
Gainers score also decreased by 16 points, while it declined to -41 from -27 in Balance Luzon, and was down 6 points in the
Visayas — from -40 to -46.

It also worsened for all education groups except college graduates, with a Net Gainer score of -19 points for elementary graduates,
-16 points for junior high school graduates, -9 points among non-elementary graduates, and up by 4 points among college
graduates.

The pollster surveyed 1,200 adults nationwide using face-to-face interviews from September 12 to 16. Results of the survey have
a ±3 percent margin of error for national percentages and ±6 percent for the subnational percentages: Metro Manila, Balance
Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.
