INTERNAL FIRE HYDRANT SYSTEM
General Overview:
Fire hydrant installation consists of a system of pipe work connected directly to the water supply main to
provide water to each and every hydrant outlet and is intended to provide water for the firemen to fight a
fire. The pipe network is always under water pressure.
On drop of pre-set water pressure, jockey will operate automatically & stop at pre-set pressure. On actual
fire operation jockey pump being of small capacity cannot maintain the pressure hence main pump will be
operated automatically & supply the rated water quantity to the system. For a reliable system include the
duty and stand by pump for jockey and the main pump.
As per the Project specification 53100 scope work; following details to be incorporate with other
systems.
1. The priming tank shall be equipped with a low water level alarm device (refer to Division 61400
Fire Alarm and Detection System) and a device with which water may be automatically supplied to
the priming tank.
2. The following terminal (interface points) for interfacing with the Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP)
of the FADS and the BMS shall be provided in the control panel:
a) Input terminal for starting
b) Priming water tank low level alarm input terminal
c) Pump operating signal output terminal
d) Grounding terminal
e) Other necessary input/output terminal
As per the Project specification 61455 FDAS Interface with following;
1. Each Water Flow Switch (WFS) of the Sprinkler shall be connected to trough MM to monitor the
flow in the pipe line. When the WFS is detected, the signal shall be sent to the FACP.
2. The Following Items of Fire-Fighting related equipment shall be monitored through MM at Fire
Alarm Control Panel.
a) Fire Hydrant Pump and Jockey Pump
i. Status Monitoring (Run/Stop)
ii. Alarm (Trip)
iii. Alarm (Water Tank Level: High, Low)
As per the Project specification 61500; The interface between the BMS and equipment is categorized
into Fire Protection System detailed as follows:
1. Fire protection System
a) Main fire pump electrical driven status (Run/off)
b) Main fire pump engine driven status (Run/off)
c) Secondary fire pump (Run/off)
d) Jockey pump (Run/off)
e) Delivery pipe water pressure with alarm
f) Fire water tank storage level (Low, High )
SPRINKLER SYSTEM
General Overview:
A sprinkler system consists of pipes along a ceiling that contain water under pressure, with an additional
source of water for a constant flow. Attached to the pipes, automatic sprinklers are placed at select
locations. When a fire occurs, a seal in the sprinkler head ruptures at a pre-established temperature, and a
steady stream of water flows.
Water is delivered through jockey and main pump piping to automatic sprinklers that open in response to a
fire. For a reliable system include the duty and stand by pump for jockey and the main pump. Water flow
indicator shall detect action of the sprinkler heads by water flow and send an alarm signal to the Fire Alarm
and Detection System.
As per the Project specification 53300 scope work; following details to be incorporate with other
systems.
1. The priming tank shall be equipped with a low water level alarm device (refer to Division 61400
Fire Alarm and Detection System) and a device with which water may be automatically supplied to
the priming tank.

SPECIAL FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM
General Overview:
The special Fire Extinguishing System use Nitrogen (N2) as the fire extinguishing agent. The System
provided for Core Room and Centralized UPS Room (1-G-22f) located in GF Main Passenger Terminal
Building (MPTB) as the Protected Area.
An automatic starter shall be the one which goes into action in synchronization with the operation of two
different fire alarm signals simultaneously to avoid incorrect action. One alarm shall come from the fire
detectors installed by the special fire extinguishing system work and another alarm shall come from the
Fire Alarm and Detection system of Electrical Work. The system shall be restored manually after operation.
As per the Project specification 53500 scope work; following details to be incorporate with other
systems.
1. Doors for evacuation shall open in the direction of evacuation.
2. A relief damper and duct shall be installed by the Air conditioning and ventilation works in order
to sustain the compartment of the protected area by increase of internal pressure when the
extinguishing system operates.
3. In case the protected area contains glass, then wired glass shall be used with sufficient strength
and heat resistance for the purpose.
4. A piston release damper which operates by the pressure of discharged gas shall be installed on the
air duct which passes through the protected area. The piston release damper shall be reset
remotely by reset valve box installed at the exit of the protected area.
5. A ventilation system shall be installed in the protected area to exhaust the discharged
extinguishing agent.
