Oilphase: Single - Phase Sample Bottle (SSB)
Oilphase: Single - Phase Sample Bottle (SSB)
A mercury-free sample cylinder for monophasic PVT sample transportation and storage.
DESCRIPTION
This pressure-compensating high pressure sample cylinder is used
for mercury-free transfers of samples from the Single-phase
Reservoir Sampler (SRS), as well as monophasic surface sampling
from the wellhead during production testing operations. Oil,
condensate or formation water samples transported and stored in
the SSB are maintained at a pressure above bubble point or
reservoir pressure, depending on the nature of the study to be
performed at the PVT laboratory. A nitrogen charged chamber
provides the pressure compensation and the statutory gas cap
required for safe shipping of pressurised liquids.
FEATURES
• Positive Displacement Operation
Allows controlled uncontaminated PVT sampling without sample
flashing.
• Pressure compensation (Single-phase)
Maintains the sample at virgin pressure, all the way to the
laboratory, using a nitrogen gas cap to meet shipping
regulations.
• Mercury (Hg) Free
No mercury is required whether transferring bottomhole
samples or sampling from surface process lines.
• Valves Incorporated in End Caps
Non-rotating valve tip for repeatable low torque high pressure
sealing.
BENEFITS
• Sample Transportation Without Phase Change
Truly representative samples are now possible for studies which
require a sample in virgin condition.
• Minimal Dead Volume
Inset valves and matching pistons and agitation rings keep dead

Conventional Sample Bottle (CSB) Oilphase
A mercury-free sample cylinder for routine PVT sample transportation and storage.
DESCRIPTION
This high pressure sample cylinder is used for mercury-free transfers of
samples from the Single-phase Reservoir Sampler, as well as surface
sampling from both the wellhead and the well test separator during
production testing operations. Oil or condensate samples transported
and stored in the CSB are depressurised to below bubble point to create
a gas cap for safe shipping and are subsequently recombined in the
laboratory for routine PVT analysis.
FEATURES
• Positive Displacement Operation
Allows controlled uncontaminated PVT sampling without sample

BENEFITS
• Minimal Dead Volume
Inset valves, matching pistons and agitation rings keep dead volume
at less than 0.5% of the sample volume.
• Safe Operation
Valves can be operated without removing protective caps and
neither personnel nor equipment are exposed to Hg.

DESCRIPTION
This system is used to adapt the Single-phase Reservoir Sampler
(SRS) to record the pressure and temperature in the sample chamber
during bottomhole sampling operations. The DRS is a small diameter
battery-operated pressure/temperature transducer package and
modified air chamber that can be fitted to any SRS in the bottomhole
sampling tool string. Programmed on surface before running in the
hole, the DRS provides a record from the time the tools are run in the
hole until the sample is transferred into a sample cylinder.
FEATURES
• Internal electronic P & T gauge
An internal transducer provides high accuracy pressure and
temperature readings in the SRS sample chamber using
Schlumberger Uniguage Quartz (WTQR-A).
• Records Sample chamber pressure and
temperature throughout entire operation
The P & T data is recorded on an EPROM memory
chip throughout the operation.
• Programmable data sampling rate
The data sampling rate is programmable to give complete
flexibility for any sampling programme.
BENEFITS
• Provides a quality record from the reservoir to the
sample cylinder.
For many fluid studies the P & T history of the sample is
crucial to it’s validity.
• Records an exact time of sample capture. Electronic

The Electric Line Carrier is an adapter which allows the Single-phase
Reservoir Sampler (SRS) to be run in any position on a wireline
Production Logging Tool (PLT) string. It ensures there is no
interference with the data acquisition from any of the PLT
transducers run below the SRS.
FEATURES
• Electric Feedthrough
Allows power and signal by pass of the SRS tool.
BENEFITS
• Allows bottomhole sampling with a fullbore flowmeter
Without an electrical feedthrough it would not be possible to run
samplers on the same string as a fullbore flowmeter.

DESCRIPTION
This new system allows real time measurement and sampling of liquid
carryover as well as separate sampling of dry gas. The system consists
of four main sub-assemblies:
The isokinetic gas sampling probe is mounted in the separator
gas outlet line and samples at the point where the gas stream exits
the separator vessel.
The isokinetic gas sampling module is a panel mounted separation
process which measures the sub-sampled gas and liquid flowrates.
The isokinetic gas sampling controller maintains an isokinetic
flow through the module and processes the carryover liquid rate for
the Schlumberger SMART well test data acquisition system.
The isokinetic gas return spool is a 1m length of 3” schedule 80
fitted downstream of the separator gas control valve into which the
sidestream re-enters the well test separation train
FEATURES
Unique sampling probe position
Ensures there are no errors due to liquid carry-over deposition on the
inner walls of the separator gas line or additional liquid as a result

Injector
A small subsample of tank liquid is injected and transported by solvent through a series of gel columns on which Syringe
the molecules are separated by size exclusion. Each molecule eluted is detected with an Infra Red (IR) detector at
a fixed wavelength selective for C-H bond stretch. The acquired signals are presented as a distribution curve ( or
Core or Solvent
fingerprint) of detector response versus molecular weight. The fingerprint describes the whole stock tank liquid Cuttings
unlike gas chromatography techniques and is unique to the individual oil.

The system can be used to compare fluids from different wells or different zones in the same well. The system is Gel Columns

Oilphase
Fluid Properties Estimation (FPE) Oilphase
A unique purpose-built service to provide key physical and compositional fluid data at the wellsite
DESCRIPTION
The package supplied is designed for the requirements of each job. Central to the service is a dual gas and liquid chromatograph
which is run by a data acquisition system coupled to a PC which also contains the reporting and simulation software. Equipment is
supplied to be used on a variety of sample vessels and sample locations.
FEATURES
The following PVT properties are measured :
• The bubble point at ambient temperature
• Chromotographic analysis of the flashed gas and liquid from the bottom hole sample
calculated through to reservoir fluid composition
• Tank oil density at ambient temperature
• Tank oil refractive index at ambient temperature
• Gas oil Ratio from the flash of the bottom hole sample
• Tank oil viscosity

Data provided by FPE is more accurate than that obtained from correlation.
DESCRIPTION
The Large Volume Sampler (LVS) is a groundwater bottomhole
sampling tool for use during hydrogeological testing. The LVS
captures up to 5 litres of pressurised fluid in a single run for transfer
into chemical analysis apparatus back at surface. Monitoring water
quality during flow tests often requires frequent sampling of large
volumes of fluid at formation depth to establish when the water flow
is clean. The LVS uses a pre-programmed electronic clock to control
both the opening and closing of the tool downhole. It has three
interchangeable sample chambers for flexible sample programming
and is very simple to operate.
FEATURES
• Simple, reliable and accurate operation
Over 500 runs have been performed with a success rate of over
99% and a time delay accuracy of less than one second.
• Short Length
The 0.5 litre LVS is only 1.4m long, allowing several tools to be
run in one wireline trip.
• Large Volume
5.0 litres of downhole reservoir sample can be retrieved per tool
with one wireline run.
BENEFITS
• Uncontaminated Sampling
Allows uncontaminated borehole sampling with positive
opening and closing of the sampling port at any depth
