Trusted Link Installation Guide
Pre-requisites 1
TLi Installation 2
TLi Configuration 3
*Note: The IBM i server or the `green screen` will be referred to as the `400` throughout the
document.
Pre-requisites
Client Access ODBC drivers are required for TLi to work. This usually comes with the IBM i ACS
package.
Depending on how you installed your IBM i ACS, you may not have the ODBC driver ready for
use in your system. In that case, download the ACS Windows App Pkg and run the setup exe
file. That will install the Client Access ODBC driver to your system. **Very important
TLi Installation
On any client/system with TLi. The setup to install will always be in the 400.
Connect to the client’s VPN (We’re just making sure that the 400 server is accessible)
Get the client’s TLi library which is in EDIXXXDTA EDIXXXPGM format. You can run the TLi in
the emulator and view the library list via Esc+3 then option 14. In this case it’s EDI533PGM.
Open a bash prompt (win10).
Hold Win+R, type cmd
FTP to the 400 and navigate to /EDIXXXPGM and get the [Link]
Make sure to use the `bin` command when getting executables via FTP
After bin, issue command ‘get [Link]’ (not shown here)
The file will be placed wherever the CMD session was before you FTP. In this case, it will be in
C:\Users\Luigi Work\
Run the exe file and install normally
TLi Configuration
After installation, the TLi has to be configured to point to the client’s 400 server
Open VIsual Mapper
On initial connection, you will be asked to setup data source
Choose the tab “Machine Data Source” and make a New source.
Select the ODBC and click Next. If you did not install the Client Access ODBC Driver, it will not show up in
this list.
Next, make sure each tab matches as below. There might be some slight differences in the layout of the
tabs for your software, but you should still be able to match everything.
Data source name: Anything
Description: Anything
System: Client’s 400 server
Press Connection Options and make sure you set the ID here.
Make sure you set the correct library below (ie EDI533DTA EDI533PGM). If you encounter errors on
library lists, remove QGPL and *USRLIBL
For this step, you may need to click the Advanced button at the bottom in order to find the “Use blocking
with a fetch of 1 row” and switch the “Record blocking size (KB):” to 256.
After this information is set up, click Okay and then select the ODBC you just created to proceed.
You will be asked to sign on; use your iseries information to do so.
You will need to connect to the Melnor VPN before submitting this information if you are not
already connected.
You then will have access to the visual mapper as we did previously:
