Sunday School Curriculum - 10 Commandments

God gave the 10 Commandments to the Israelites to teach them right from wrong and help them honor God by loving him and others. The Sunday school series will teach kids about each of the 10 Commandments through stories and lessons, helping them understand what God expects them to do and why following his rules benefits them. Each lesson focuses on a different commandment and includes a Bible verse, story, and discussion about God's character and the principles children should follow.

The 10 COMMANDMENTS SERIES

GOD GAVE HIS PEOPLE THE 10 COMMANDMENTS SO WE’LL ALL KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RIGHT AND WRONG!
God gives us rules to live by because He knows that they will help us be happy. 😊 God gives us rules because He loves us. The rules He gives us
are meant to protect us and others.
If we follow the Ten Commandments, we will honor God by loving him and loving others.
Through this series, the kids will continue to learn more about WHO GOD IS by knowing what He wants us to do or NOT to do!

Key Verse: Psalm 19:7

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

After every lesson/story, children must be able to answer the following questions:
 What does God expect me to do and obey?
 What does GOD want me NOT to do and avoid?
 Why did God give me the 10 Commandments and why should I follow His commands?
 How would this certain commandment benefit me? Why is this good for me?

The 10 commandments in General:

 Rules that would bring about good results for anyone who followed them.
 Rules that would help keep people safe and at peace.
 Rules that would show them how to love and respect one another and God.
 Rules that would help them stay close to the One who wanted to give them every good thing.
 God knew His people very well. He knew their hearts. He knew they were human—that they often made mistakes, chose poorly, and acted without thinking.
 God gave His people these rules as reminders of what was good and right—as reminders of who He created them to be.

us or are unkind to us. And He tells us to love our
enemies and do good to them and never to hate nor
hurt them!
 We must value life because God values life.

his sins and God will forgive him. In the same way, when
we do something that is not right, we must ask for God's
forgiveness and He will forgive us.
