1. OVERVIEW
The IGRT couch top is manufactured from a foam core wrapped in a 2mm thick carbon fiber skin,
using special resins to achieve its strength and stiffness. Minor scuffs, scratches and surface wear
can be covered and the overall couch top appearance can be significantly improved by installing or
replacing an IGRT couch top protective cover. This cover and the fitting instructions are available
from Varian via [STB-PS-083].

2. COUCH TOP INSPECTION

2.1. Visually inspect all of the couch top surfaces and edges, looking for minor scuffs, scratches,
surface wear, dents, punctures, evidence of collision and unapproved repairs.

2.2. If there are any signs of damage or wear, see Table 1: IGRT Couch Top Damage
Evaluation to determine severity, risk and recommended actions.

This document and the latest version of the instructions for users are available for download at

This CTB includes new information, not available in other Varian documents. Please advise the
appropriate personnel, working in your radiotherapy department, of the content of this CTB and
