Arduino Control for Inkjet Printing Issues

This document summarizes several local literature sources about the use of Arduino in the Philippines: - It discusses manual and automated techniques for printing circuitry layouts, including using acetate printed with a laser printer. - An automation invention uses Arduino and CNC mills to create accurate circuitry drawings. This technology is being adopted more slowly in the Philippines. - Events in Manila have promoted Arduino uses, and a makerspace was launched to provide equipment like 3D printers and laser cutters. - A student project presented a voice-controlled home automation system using Arduino as a personal assistant. - An article described a low-cost integrated control system using Arduino to digitally control the three axes

Printing circuitry to printed circuit board in manual techniques is discussed in an article

by Kentronix. The layout can be printed on a transparent material, for example acetate. Printing

the acetate should be done by a laser printer, not just an ordinary inkjet printer. Ink printed on

acetate will not stick. They’ll just give you undesired results. Using toner from laser printers well,

does the job. Another way of transferring is using glossy paper instead of using acetate. But this

method cannot create a complete result in circuitry layout.

An automation for drawing purposes is invented in order to have an accurate results.

This drawing machine can be a basis in making an ink plotter for PCB layout transferring. This

machine works through the help of Arduino and CNC mills for controlling its motion in creating

drawings. The machine is developed in foreign countries which is slowly coping Philippines.

Only few Filipino researchers are studying this drawing automation or the ink plotter most

commonly using an Arduino.

Last April 2, 2016, an event World Renowned Arduino Day was held in Manila at the

TechPortal, UP-Ayala TechnoHub, Quezon City which are organized by ThinkLab, a local

research and development startup group with the help of RedWizard Events and EConnext

Ideas. This events includes workshops about Arduino basics. An Arduino is an open-source and

cross-platform device with the endless capabilities of electronics into everyday tasks and for

making developed and advanced objects. In this event, Norde International Distributor and

ThinkLab launched their own makerspace which is called SparkLab. This was publicized last

June 15, 2016 in order for the makers to use 3D Scanners and printers, laser cutters and CNC

machines and other makerspace equipment.

Andres Bonifacio College published a journal about their winning research entry entitled

“Jarvis-Arduino Based Home Automation System.” Mr. Maghanoy and Ms. Regañon, third year
students presented their innovation in DOST-RICE Category Championship last November 24,

2017. Their innovation taps into the power of artificial intelligence (AI) that is controlled by means of

a human voice. This voice controlled AI is connected to Arduino, an open source micro-controller

that can be programmed to act as a personal assistant responding to voice commands. The AI

serves as the software of the system that receives the command and runs the Arduino which then

triggers the relay, and causes appliances to do the desired activity. By using the Home Automation

System, a home owner is freed from personally doing some of the usual household chores such as

turning off the lights, fans and other appliances.

According to an article Low-Cost Integrated Control System for the 3-Axis Computer

Numerical Control (CNC) Router Machine by Jayson P. Rogelio, A computer Numerically-

Controlled or CNC router is a machine that can produce objects from wood through different

variation of non-ferrous metals like lead, copper, brass and others. This machine provides a

connection between the computer and driver for motors. The innovated controller is capable of

digitally-controlling the mechanical motion of the three axes; the X,Y and Z. This is also includes

based motion controller board for X,Y and Z axes.
