Good morning, I am here to share my thought with you all through my speech regarding on disaster

management and typhoon Ulysses. I am extremely obliged to be given this opportunity to deliver the
speech.

We all know that the Philippines is recently damaged by typhoon Ulysses. It disturbs lives of a thousand
of individuals, wipe out livelihoods and throw numerous into poverty overnight. Typhoon Ulysses was
indeed super! They say it was recorded to be the strongest typhoon than typhoon Yolanda to ever make
landfall in Philippines, particularly in Marikina and Cagayan Valley. Approximately over 25,000 families in
Rizal Area had to look for brief protection or evacuations after Typhoon Ulysses battered the region this
week. Based on Galvez, 65,222 houses were harmed by Ulysses; most of it was in CALABARZON.
Typhoon Ulysses caused harm and misfortunes to infrastructure and farming in Luzon, that was worth at
around ₱10 billion. This was according to recently released assessed from the country's disaster
administration office. The misfortune of livelihood, houses and productive resources instantly pushed
approximately a thousand individuals into destitution. The Philippines has tragically been forced to
construct up a lot of encounter in dealing with calamities. Each year our country encounters solid
typhoons and floods.

But you know, I don’t know what to say. I struggle to find words indeed for the pictures and videos that
we see on the news coverage and other social media platform. And I struggle to find words to portray
how I feel approximately the losses and damages that Marikina, Cagayan Valley and other portion of
Philippines have suffered from this typhoon Ulysses.

I speak for my ordination, but I speak for the endless individuals who will no longer be able to talk for
themselves after perishing from the typhoon. I too speak for those who have been stranded by the
storm. I speak for the individuals presently hustling against time to save survivors and lighten the
suffering of the people affected.

It is exceptionally difficult to assume that many of our Kababayan have losses their own homes and
livelihoods. It hurts so much to see that our Kababayan are fair holding up for the assistance of our
government. It hurts so much for me to see the victims asking for help on social media. But I can't do
anything to assist or help them. I can't even go out and offer assistance to them, because you're in that
situation as well.

We are able to take exceptional action now to guarantee that we avoid a future where super typhoon as
a way of life. Since we refuse, as a nation, to acknowledge a future where super storm Ulysses ended up
as a reality of life. We refuse to accept that running away from typhoon, evacuating our families,
enduring the destruction and misery.

Right now the president is what individuals are seeking out for in this incident. They questions if where
the dear president is. You know for me, the right answer is that, the government generally makes a
difference for proper disaster management but the individuals should also be mindful or aware of what
is happening around them.
As we know that the place where we live is very prone to disasters and thus it is the duty of the
educational institutions to make the youth aware of such problem which could help in circulating
information across the place. The area we are living in had faced many natural disasters like floods and
storms. And due to lack of knowledge and awareness in the people, there was a huge loss of lives and
commodities. Nobody wants to go through the painful situation again and again and thus we have to be
prepared and should take certain preventive measures.

I hope everyone is mindful of the term “deforestation” which implies cutting down trees. Less trees
means less oxygen and more carbon-dioxide on earth. All these alter are specifically driving towards
excessive natural disasters like floods and typhoon.

Disaster management gives confidence to individuals and makes the communities more grounded when
a disaster strikes. A disaster may well be natural or man-made. Disaster management is an authority
which has ideally been created to assist society and communities. It helps people in knowing the total
prepare of man-made or natural disasters, the method of managing with such calamities and their
consequences.

As most disasters are sudden, but in case of precautionary measures, amid surges or storms. One should
move to a more grounded place if their home isn't strong enough to provide their appropriate
protection. This happens in rural areas. The individuals should attempt to be secured as much as
possible. In case the disasters are like storms, surges, at that point the individuals can get
announcements on news channels, radio or daily papers and other social media platforms. We should
learn on what happen this year.

Disasters are a time of crisis when individuals confront huge suffering. And amid that time everybody
should offer assistance or help each other to survive in the disaster. We should help each other.

Yes, it takes time to settle everything. The primary thing which comes under disaster management is
taking care of human lives. The individuals who were harmed within the disaster are sent for their
medications.

Finally, before I close, I would like to note that I am so pleased for those individuals who helped our
kababayan in Marikina, Cagayan Valley and other affected areas. We cherish you our modern heroes. To
Philippines and to all Filipinos, keep fighting!

Thank you.
