Graphing Exponential Function
Exercises:
1. Graph the following exponential functions in one Cartesian plane and write your
observations about the graph of three exponential functions.
a. y = 2^x
b. y = 3 (2^x)
c. y = 0.4 (2^x)
A. Solve the values of “y” and input the values on the table below:
x -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3
y = 2^x 1 1 1 1 2 4 8
8 4 2
y = 3 (2^x) 3 3 3 3 6 12 24
8 4 2
y = 0.4(2^x) 0.05 0.1 0.2 0.4 0.8 1.6 3.2

B. Observations
Similarities
The domain for each example are all real numbers.
The range for each example are all positive numbers.
Each graph goes upwards as it goes from left to right making it an increasing function.
Differences
Each graph passes through different points which are (0,1), (0,3), (0, 0.4).
Each graph does not intersect with each other and they only go to one direction.
C. Solutions of part “A”
2. Graph the following exponential functions in one Cartesian plane and write your observations
about the graph of three exponential functions.
a. y = 2^x
b. y = (2^x) - 3
c. y = (2^x) + 1
A. Solve the values of “y” and input the values on the table below:
x -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3
y = 2^x 1 1 1 1 2 4 8
8 4 2
y = (2^x) - 3 −2.875 −2.75 −2.5 −2 −1 1 5
y = (2^x) + 1 1.125 1.25 1.5 2 3 5 9
